Ground Wire
The Sure Grip In-Line Diode Pack fits all handles
or wiring harnesses to protect switches against
destructive voltage surges. The In-Line Diode
Pack provides efficient surge suppression
protection for your control handle to ensure
maximum switch life. Simple solder connections
ensure trouble-free life and allow the Diode
Pack to be installed anywhere on the wiring
harness. A tough two piece molded case
protects the diode board and makes installation
quick and easy. Diode Boards are furnished with
diodes to protect up to 12 switches. Special
diode board configurations can be supplied that
will operate a diverter valve or replace other
relay logic. Consult factory for details.
Case: measures 1" x 1" x 4.5" long
Diodes: 2 amps continuous, 60 amps surge
Wire Size: 18 - 24 gauge, stranded
Model DP-12: for up to 12 switch functions
Model DP-03: for up to 3 switch functions
Diodes must be installed to protect switches from damaging inductive kickback produced by solenoid or
relay coils when the switch is released (turned off).
The Diode Pack would typically be installed in a convenient location on the cable leading from the control
handle. Being careful not to cut any of the wires, remove 3 1/2" of the outer jacket from the cable. Identify
which wires are from the switches and lay them onto the circuit card. Mark the wires where they will be
attached to the terminal posts.
Strip about 1/4" of insulation from the wires where they are marked. Insert the wires into the terminal posts
and solder. (You can lightly crimp the wire into the terminal to help hold it in place while soldering.)
Connect the ground lead to complete the installation.

Use Press to insert terminals into diode board as required. Solder
terminals and cut off excess terminal.
Install diodes as shown and solder. Cut off excess wire.
Unless specified otherwise, install diode pack 3 feet fromTest End.
Being careful not to cut any of the wires, of the outer
jacket fromthe cable.

where they will be attached to the terminal posts.
Using the hand wire stripper, strip about 1/4of insulation fromthe
wires where they are marked. Insert the wires into the terminal
posts and solder.
A3 black/white ground wire must be installed onto the ground
terminal and exited out the case.
