There is not a theory describing the critical region.


Churchill equation describes relatively well this region, for smooth pipes with Rrel <= 0.01, giving conservative v
when compared with Nikurades experimental data (See Nikurade sheet).
Although Churchill equation describes also perfectly the turbulente region, Colebrook equation is
used in these regions because the use of this equation is often required in certain design criteria.
