five-star hotel located at the heart of an upmarket part of London. The venue rests on the site of a former royal residence and retains a grandeur to match with an impressively stylish interior. There are 447 bedrooms at the Intercontinental !" of which are lu#urious and spacious suites. $or meetings and events the hotel has %& facilities providing space for anywhere up to 7'" people. (n the other end of the scale there are also areas designed for rela#ation such as a health and fitness centre and a spa designed for guests to unwind in lu#ury or work on their fitness during their stay. It is therefore paramount that the daily operation of staff from porters to security runs smoothly and to achieve that the communication within the hotel has to be well coordinated. )all to wall *adio +ommunications Ltd have been maintaining The Intercontinental ,otels e#iting radio system for many years and were delighted when the hotel management approached them with a remit to design and deliver a radio system that is not only smart cutting edge and user-friendly but also functional and future proof. It needed to be capable of te#ting and interconnected with the office platform to ensure timely accurate and convenient call instruction delivering in real-time for preserving and viewing. -oreover with instructions preferred to be delivered discreetly .avoiding disturbing hotel guests/ in order to ensure the service 0uality and efficiency. The proposed future proof digital solution designed as a bespoke system for The Intercontinental specifically had to tackle issues such as1 the coverage loss and black spots across the hotel due to in some part the growth of the area surrounding the hotel as this had resulted in communication loss between porters and concierge. 20uipment needed to be durable offering discreet communication and no ongoing costs. (ur solution was to offer a 3igital *adio 4ystem with double voice capacity creating a pathway for all radio comms across the hotel .4ecurity *oom 4ervice +oncierge 2vents/ to be integrated and managed by one system. This resulted in a dramatic decrease of all ongoing costs for (fcom licence5s as only one licence is now re0uired. )ith this new and e#citing upgrade only one base station repeater is re0uired to give a blanket coverage across the building to 6LL users and with this full upgrade the client has now integrate their radios with telephone interconnect. 6ll wireless phones and associated costs have been removed from the system with the added bonus of an email gateway. The installation of a ,ytera 7ase 4tation repeater a strategically placed antenna infrastructure and trigger rigger base station the ,ytera hand portables with user defined programming has enabled all users to have complete and uninterrupted communications throughout the building. )ith the addition of discrete acoustic earpieces visitors to the hotel are not disturbed by radio traffic.
