Observation Form No.10 Individual Differences

Individual differences are the measures of the difference existing between people. It is stand for those differences which in their totality distinguish one individual from another. So, we can say that individual differences is the differences among humans that distinguish or separate them from one another and makes one as a single unique individual. The causes of individual differences can be hereditary or by means of their environment, or in other words is Nature and Nurture. Individuals have various endowments, abilities, and capacities provided by hereditary which decide the path of progress and development of an individual. Hereditary also contributes to sex, intelligence, and other specific abilities. Environment also plays key role in individual differences. No person from birth to death gets the same environment. Individual differences occur on the basis of simulation received by individual from his or her internal and external environment. This may include family set up, peer group, economic statues, education etc. Knowing ones difference is important especially if you were a teacher. Because if youre a teacher it is important to know your student because it can help you address their needs as your student. Your students will come from very different backgrounds and have various learning needs. And it is a challenge for us on how to cope up with their needs as a learner. There are many attributes that can be classified among the differences of a male and female student. It is obvious that men are more powerful than women when it comes to their physicality. I observe it in our subject Workshop Theory and Practice, I observe that there are only few female student that are able to take up this subject

knowing that they need more power in this subject because they are using different tools and machines. And when it comes to the emotion, the women are more expressive than man. When it comes into logical thinking, I observe that men can think more logically than woman. Because they say that the brain of men are 10% larger that the brain of a women. And lastly when it comes to attitude in class I observe that men are wilder than women, the men are usually noisier in class moreover if they are sitted in group. It is important to give more exercises in slow learners because in this kind of exercises the slow learners are enhancing their skills in a specific area more effectively. They need more attention because they are the one needing more support when it comes to learning. I observe that in some of our class, the slow learners are just sitted with whom they want to be their seatmate. But for me it is more effective if the slow learners were grouped in fast learners, I believe that they will be motivated if they are grouped in fast learners because they will have what we called positive insecurities of having a higher grade than theirs. I believe that grouping the fast and slow learners are just a traditional type of managing a class. When you are placed into what we called row 3 I observed that most of the students get irritated because it just another way of calling that you are mentally challenged. This will not serve as a motivational factor that they needed most and this can lead in to bullying inside the classroom. The students may felt that they are not belong anymore in class. Individualized instruction is a method of instruction in which content, instructional technology (such as materials) and pace of learning are based upon the abilities and interests of each individual learner. For me the disadvantage of this type of instructions is the students may have different perceptions on instructions given by the teacher that may lead in miscommunication.
