ARCHMERE SWIMMER SIGNS WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL (Claymont, DE) NOVEMBER 18, 2013 On Thursday, November 14, Archmere Academy senior and graduate of Saint Edmonds Academy, Benjamin Creekmore of Wilmington, DE, signed his National Letter of Intent to join the mens swim team at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ben is the co-captain of the Archmere Academy swim team for his second year. He was named to the Delaware Swimming and Diving First Team All-State three years in a row. Ben was the State Champion in the 100 yard Buttery for the 2012 and 2013 seasons and was the State Champion in the 200 Individual Medley for 2013. He has set school records in the 200 yd Freestyle, 500 yard Freestyle, 100 yard Buttery, and 100 yard Backstroke. Ben was a member of the 200 yard Medley Relay and 400 yard Freestyle Relay that set school records. He was named to the USA Swimming Scholastic All-America team during his sophomore and junior years. Currently swimming for the Upper Main Line YMCA in Berwyn, PA under Coach Glenn Neufeld and previously swimming for the Brandywine YMCA in Wilmington, DE under Coach Meredith Gri!n, Ben is a YMCA All-American and the 2013 YMCA National Champion in both the 200 yd Freestyle and 200 yd Buttery. He was an athlete representative for the YMCA National Meet Committee in 2012 and 2013 and is currently an athlete representative for both the Middle Atlantic LSC and the USA Swimming LSC Development Committee. When hes not in the water, Ben is a member of Archmeres National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and Science Honor Society. He participates in Math League, TEAMS and Academic Bowl and volunteers at the Sunday Breakfast Mission, the Brandywine YMCA, and the Westminster Swim Club. For his outstanding performance on the Advanced Placement exams, Ben was named an AP Scholar with Honor in 2013.
