Product Link PL421 Installation Quick Reference 2

Mount the ECM Mount ECM at least 8 inches away from the operator, if applicable. Ensure GPS antenna coax can be routed to top of cab or other high point on machine. Ensure harness wires can be routed to PL Connector or suitable location for connecting to asset harness. The PL421 uses an internal GSM cellular antenna. Do not mount the ECM inside metal enclosures or in areas where the cellular signals may be blocked.

1
Preparation Review Asset Schematic Determine potential ECM mounting location. Identify location of PL Connector, if present. Identify 403 R-Terminal wire. If no R-Terminal wire, identify alternate source of Engine Running Signal. Determine if signal is AC or DC. Identify J1939 CAN wires. If no CAN wires, order a J1939 Terminator.

3
Route the Harness Wires and GPS Antenna Coax The GPS Antenna should be mounted as close to horizontal as possible, using the provided adhesive tape. Protect the antenna coax from abrasion, excessively high temperatures, and kinking or tight bends. Route the PL421's harness wires to the assets Product Link Connector or point in the asset harness where wires can be splice in.
