MARKING CRITERIA FOR SECTION A-GUIDED WRITING

BAND MARKING DESCRIPTORS


• Task fulfilled with ideas and details well-developed and
EXCELLENT 25 – 30 well-organised.
• Language is accurate with few minor errors and first draft
slips.
• Varied sentences structures are used effectively to convey
meaning.
• Vocabulary is apt and widely used.
• Accurate use of mechanics of writing.
• Interest of the reader is aroused and sustained.

• Task fulfilled with ideas and details developed and

GUIDELINES FOR MARKING SECTION B

Content points (Maximum 5)

1. Lie down in a cool, dark and quiet place


2. Put on ice bag on your head and relax
3. Take some painkillers
4. Avoid caffeine
5. Do (light) exercises and meditation
6. Know what triggers the migraine
7. Consult a doctor if the pain persists

Note:

1. If a candidate uses these mandatory words, spelling of these words must be


accurate.
2. If a candidate rephrases the mandatory words, spelling of keywords must still
be accurate, however DO NOT PENALISE for grammatical errors.
3. Count the total number of marks awarded for content. The maximum number of
marks must not exceed 5.
4. Next, award marks for Style and Presentation. Add these marks to the content
marks.
5. Write the total number of marks obtained as follows:
Content : 5
Style and Presentation : 5
Total : 10

6. If candidates do wholesale lifting, identify marks for CONTENT (C) within the
first 50 words. Award only 1 mark for STYLE AND PRESENTATION (SP).
