Overview
GeoGraphix is pleased to announce the release of Discovery /
Overview Discovery on OpenWorks 5000.0.0.1

Release Highlights Discovery 5000.0.0.1 is a Software Update release for the

Discovery product suite and will be installed over the last major

there are many workflow enhancements and performance
improvements in this release.

This release will be delivered via electronic software delivery and is

now available on the Landmark Software Manager (LSM).

Only those who are designated representative(s) at a customer site

will be able to download the release via the LSM. If you are not
sure who at your company has LSM access authority, please
contact your Landmark Account Representative or Customer
Operations Specialist. They can either grant you LSM access or
provide you with the contact at your company with access.

Release Highlights
The focus of Discovery 5000.0.0.1 was maintenance and
performance on both Discovery and Discovery on OpenWorks.

In addition to the performance and maintenance focus, there are

many workflow enhancements to smartSECTION, where we
continue with the goal to fully replace XSection with smartSECTION
in the future.

Performance
• SeisVision - Well data access and interpretation
 initialization in SeisVision and SeisVision for OpenWorks
has been completely re-written in this release. The result
shows very significant improvements in the time required to
open most interpretations, in some cases orders of
magnitude improvement. The amount of improvement
seen will depend on the number of well, formations, and
depth conversion horizons are in the interpretation.
• QueryBuilder – Improved performance with the drop down
lists. The level of performance improvement in some cases
could be greater than 10X.
• GeoAtlas – Layer rendering code has been optimized. For
some projects, users could see significant improvements in
the performance for layer rendering, particularly large
layers in a network environment.

Enhancements and Workflow Highlights

• WellBase DOW – Lithology is now displayed in the core tab
• ASCII OW export of well data from Discovery. Well data
can be exported in a format that is compatible with
OpenWorks for import.
• smartSECTION – Hot Keys for view wells command
• Pan Map View with arrow keys
• GeoAtlas Layer Select Icon on the toolbar
• Geo-Steering support enhancements
o Vertical Section – Projected Cross Section View
o Distance and Angle tool
o Horizontal Scale grid display

New for smartSECTION 5000.0.0.1 is the Vertical Section display

featuring a Horizontal Scale grid in addition to the existing Vertical
Scale grid display. To aid with geosteering, the new Distance and
Angle tool enables the geoscientist to measure the drill angle and
hold distance directly from the cross section display
