ELECTRICAL CONTRACT WORK

This specification details the board guidelines for installation, testing and commissioning of electrical equipment. The work shall, however, at all times be carried out strictly as per the instructions of the OW !"#! $% !!"#&' ()'*T("!". The e+act scope of work shall be as indicated in ,ection - . / and 0ata ,heet '1. 1.0 1.1 CODES AND STANDARDS The electrical installation work shall comply with the latest applicable standards, "egulations, !lectricity "ules and ,afety *odes of the locality where the installation is carried out. othing in this specification shall be construed to relieve the *O T"'*TO" of this specification shall be construed to relieve the *O T"'*TO" of this responsibility. 'pplicable standards for installation and testing of equipment are indicated in 0ata ,heet '1. GENERAL SCOPE The *O T"'*TO" shall take over the equipment to be erected from the OW !"2, storage yard#stores#sheds#railway siding, transport the equipment where required in actual position, erect, assemble all parts of the equipment and test and commission the same. The *O T"'*TO" shall furnish all tools. Welding equipment, rigging materials, testing equipment, test connections etc., required for complete installation, testing and commissioning of the items included in the contract work. The OW !" may engage specialist engineers from the equipment &' ()'*T("!", to supervise the installation, testing and commissioning of their equipment. The *O T"'*TO" shall e+tend full co3operation to these engineers and carry out the works as per their instructions. The *O T"'*TO"2, work shall include minor rewiring#modifications as may be necessitated during commissioning. 4roviding such assistance shall be deemed included in the *O T"'*TO"2, basic scope. The *O T"'*TO" shall co3operate through the OW !"#! $% !!" with other contractors at site, in all matters of common interest, so as not to obstruct operation of others and to ensure the safety of all personnel and works covered under this specification. %t will be the *O T"'*TO"2s responsibility to assist the OW !" to obtain approval #clearance from local statutory authorities including !lectrical %nspector, wherever applicable, for conducting of any work or for installation carried out which comes under the purview of such authorities. The work shall be carried out strictly as per the instructions and layout drawings of the OW !"#! $% !!"#&' ()'*T("!". %n case of any doubt#misunderstanding as to correct interpretation of the drawings or instructions, necessary clarifications shall be obtained from the OW !"#! $% !!". The *O T"'*TO" shall be held responsible for any damage to the equipment consequent to not following the &' ()'*T("!"2, instructions correctly. will be furnished to the successful 7%00!" who must return the same after work completion. -.8 'll thefts of equipment#component parts, after take over by the *O T"'*TO", until the installation is handed over to the OW !", shall be made good by the *O T"'*TO". The *O T"'*TO" shall have a separate cleaning gang to clean all equipment under erection and as well as the work area and the pro:ect site at regular intervals to the satisfaction of the OW !"#! $% !!". %n case the cleaning is not to the OW !";, satisfaction, he will have the right to carry out the cleaning operations and any e+penditure incurred by the OW !" in this regard will be to the *O T"'*TO"2, account. %n order to avoid ha=ards to personnel moving around the equipment such as switchgear etc., which is kept charged after installation before commissioning, they should be suitably cordoned off to prevent anyone accidentally going near it. The *O T"'*TO" shall carry out touch3up painting on any equipment indicated by the OW !"#! $% !!", if the finish paint on the equipment is soiled or marred during installation handling. The paint will be supplied by the OW !". The *O T"'*TO" shall ensure workmanship of good quality and shall assign qualified supervisors#engineers and competent labour who are skilled, careful and e+perienced in their several trades in similar works. The OW !"#! $% !!" shall reserve the right to re:ect non3competent persons employed by the *O T"'*TO", if the workmanship is not of good order. %t shall be the responsibility of the *O T"'*TO" to obtain necessary >icense# 'uthorisation# permit for work from the >icensing 7oard of the locality#state where the *O T"'*TO"2s firm should also hold valid permits issued or recognised by the >icensing 7oard of the locality#state where the work is to be carried out. INSTALLATION WORK SCOPE The *O T"'*TO" shall install, test and commission the equipment furnished by the OW !". The quantities, appro+imate si=es and weights of the equipment shall be indicated in 0ata ,heet '1. !quipment shall be installed in a neat, workmanlike manner so that it is level, plumb, square and properly aligned and oriented. Tolerances shall be as established in the &' ()'*T("!"2s drawings or as stipulated by the ! $% !!". o equipment shall be permanently bolted down to foundation or ,tructure until the alignment has been checked and found acceptable by the OW !"#! $% !!". *are shall be e+ercised in handling to avoid distortion to stationary structures, the marring of finish, or damaging of delicate instruments or other electrical parts. 'd:ustments shall be made as necessary to the stationary structures for plump and level, for the sake of appearance or to avoid twisting of frames, binding of hinged members, etc. The *O T"'*TO" shall move all equipment into the respective buildings through the regular doors or floor openings provided specifically for lifting the equipment. Wherever the OW !"2, crane is made available for lifting heavy equipment and materials, the

*O T"'*TO" shall move the equipment from storage site to the crane, attach to the crane hook to the points?s@ provided specifically for handling and install in final location. The *O T"'*TO" shall make his own arrangement for lifting of the equipment when the OW !"2, crane or cranes are not available. Operation of the OW !"2, crane shall be by OW !"2, personnel only. o part of the structure shall be utilised to lift or erect any equipment without prior permission of the OW !"#! $% !!". 5./ )oundation work for all transformers, switchgear, motors, control panels and desks will be carried out by the civil *ontractor. Aowever, minor modifications to foundations, wherever found necessary for proper installation, shall be carried out by the *O T"'*TO" under this specification. 'll e+ternal cabling including end connections and earthing will be carried out separately under cabling and earthing works respectively. T"' ,)O"&!", %nspection, storage, installation, testing and commissioning of transformers shall be in accordance with the specified code of practice and &' ()'*T("!";, instructions. Whenever stated in 0ata ,heet '1, transformers will be delivered without oil, filled with inert gas and without bushings and e+ternally mounted accessories. The switchgear# panels shall be installed on finished surfaces, concrete, or steel sills. completed. 4ower bus, enclosures, ground and control splices of conventional nature shall be cleaned and bolted together, being drawn up with torque wrench of proper si=e or by other approved means. Tape or compound shall be applied where called for by the &' ()'*T("!";, drawings. 5.9.1 The *O T"'*TO" shall take utmost care in handling instruments, relays and other delicate mechanisms. Wherever the instruments and relays are supplied separately, they shall be mounted only after the associated control panels#desks have been erected and aligned. The blocking materials#mechanism employed for the safe transit of the instruments and relays shall be removed after ensuring that the panels#desks have been completely installed and no further movement of the same would be necessary. 'ny damage to relays and instruments shall be immediately reported to the OW !"#! $% !!". Whenever applicable, the *O T"'*TO" shall install compressed air plants associated with the switchgear. The installation shall be complete with compressor sets, receivers, control panels, compressed air pipes, valves and other accessories. &OTO", (nless otherwise specified, the motors will be installed by the respective vendors of the driven equipment. Aowever, the *O T"'*TO" under this specification shall undertake the testing and commissioning of the motor. The installation# commissioning shall be as per the applicable code of practice and the &' ()'*T("!"2, instructions.

5.10 7attery and *hargers 5.10.1 %nstallation and testing of battery charges shall be done in strict compliance with the manufacturer2s instructions. !ach cell is filled with electrolyte in 'ccordance with the &' ()'*T("!"2, instructions. 7attery shall be set up on racks as soon as possible after receipt, utilising lifting devices supplied by the &' ()'*T("!". The cells shall not be lifted by the terminals. *ontact surfaces of battery terminals and inter3cell connectors shall be cleaned, coated with protective grease and assembled. !ach connection shall be properly tightened. !ach cell shall be tested with hydrometer and thermometer and results logged. )reshening charge, if required, shall be added. When turned over to the OW !", the battery shall be fully charged and electrolyte shall be at full level and have specified specific gravity. 5.11 ,ubstation 5.11.1 The *O T"'*TO" shall carry3out ,ubstation installation as required in the OW !"2, plan and elevation drawings of ,ubstation showing equipment layout details, etc. 'll equipment including connections, ?unless otherwise specified@, will be supplied by the OW !". The quantities of all equipment will be indicated in the bill of materials on the drawings and#or 0ata ,heet '1. 5.11.1 The *O T"'*TO" shall install complete set of busbars # busducts, equipment connections, busbar connections to equipment, lightning protection including down3comer up to a height of 1000 mm from ground level where they shall be connected to the OW !"2, test links. Tube type conductor lengths shall be :oined by welding procedure as specified in ,ection *# enclosed instructions.

5.11.1 %nstallation work of breakers and isolators shall also include compressed plants with all accessories whenever applicable and necessary ad:ustments#alignments necessary for proper operation of circuit breakers, isolators and their operating mechanisms. 'll insulators and bushings shall be protected against damage during installation. %nsulators or bushings damaged due to negligence or carelessness of the *O T"'*TO" shall be replaced by him at his e+pense. 5.11.- Whenever specified in ,ection *, the *O T"'*TO" shall undertake the design, )abrication and installation of ,ubstation structures as per the OW !"#! $% !!";, requirements. The design for the structures shall be furnished by the OW !" to the *O T"'*TO" for fabrication work. The quantity of steel is as indicated in 0ata ,heet '1# ,ection /.
