DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS & COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING Course Code & Title Semester Class Batch Faculty In-Charge HIGH SPEED NETWORKS VII IV B.E (ECE) 2009-2013 Nathirulla Sheriff

Main objectives of the courses are

1. To justify that High-speed networks dominate both the local area network (LAN) and widearea network (WAN) markets because of the increased use of multimedia applications and the World Wide Web, and other high-volume needs of users. 2. To provide a comprehensive, integrated and up-to-date survey of the key issues of high speed MPLS and ATM networks, the technology and recent trends that dominates the field of high-speed networking. 3. To analyse a wide range of design issues related to high-speed networks, including congestion control, provision of different levels of quality of service (QoS), resource reservation. 4. To analyse the need to carry large volumes of traffic with different QoS requirements over networks operating at very high data rates. 5. To provide general Ethernet information and technical specifications.

This course shall help to meet the following PEOs

1. To prepare students to excel in their chosen career through holistic education 2. The graduates are able to apply the broad fundamental concepts in social and natural sciences, mathematics, and engineering, and the depth of knowledge gained in electronics and communication engineering, as professionals in their chosen careers. 3. To make students to innovatively design, simulate, develop, implement and test hardware and software components for offering solution to real life situations. 4. The graduates demonstrate effective communication skills, the ability to work well either individually or as part of a team, who have embraced lifelong learning values for continuous self and professional or career development.
