Davis 1 Amanda Davis Stacie Weatbrook English 2010 23 October 2013 Annotated Bibliography Arkontaky, John.

Wizards of Woz Keeps Casting His Spells. Electronic Design. 55.23 (2007): 59. Web. n.p. Academic Search Premier . Web. 4 September 2013. Summary In 1971 Steve Wozniak (Woz) helps Steve Jobs start Apple (Arktontaky 59). Woz was the engineer of the first single-circuit board with embedded ROM in 1975 (Arktontaky59). Once at Apple computers Woz worked on many side projects. Woz ended up leaving Apple in 1985 and formed his own company Cloud 9 (Arkontaky). Woz states, I wanted to be a teacher my whole life. I secretly wished it. I cant tell you how much fun it was when they learned something, (Arkontaky). Rhetorical Analysis The logos of this article is to enlighten people that Jobs wasnt the engineer of the Apple I, it was really Woz. The ethos is fair, Arkontaky never says a bad thing about Jobs and focuses on Wozs success. Pathos could be anybody, learning about who really started Apple could be a complete shock. My Opinion I found that this article was very helpful, before I was making assumptions that Jobs was the genius behind Apple, when really all he did was vision the way computers and technology

Davis 2 would work one day. Arkontaky gives 100 percent of the Apple process to Woz, and I believe that he well deserves it.

Grossman, Lev and Harry McCracken. The Inventor Of the Future. Time Magazine. 17 October 2011: n.p. Academic Search Premier. Web. 4 September 2013. Summary In 2011 Apple was named, The Worlds most valuable company. Steve Jobs is known for this and lived through the rise and fall of Apples successes and failures (Grossman). In 1955 Jobs was born to an American mother and a Syrian father, and was placed up for adoption Paul and Clara Jobs adopted him and raised him in San Francisco, California (Grossman). In 1976, Jobs and his friend Steve Wozniak (Woz) came up with Apple, a third founder Ronald Wayne helped with starting the company but quit after two weeks, due to lack of success (Grossman). Apple started in Paul and Claras garage, the Apple I was thus created. Jobs didnt invent things, but he recognized their power before anyone else did, (Grossman). Jobs saw the way of the future and innovated the designs of technology. In 1985 Jobs was no longer named CEO of Apple Computers, and in September of that same year he resigned from the company (Grossman). In the later years to come, Apple had accumulated 1.6 million dollars in debt, while Jobs was on hiatus he started up the company NeXT and Pixar (Grossman). In 1996 Apple was begging for Jobs to come back, he did, and with Jobs came many new ideas (Grossman). First the I-Mac, IPod, ITunes, IPhone, and lastly the IPad (Grossman). Rhetorical Analysis

Davis 3 The logos of this article is that the author is convincing you that Jobs wasnt a true inventor. He was a man who knew what people wanted and made it possible. Grossman and McCracken ethos is fair; they both stated valid points about Jobs and didnt have it come off as Jobs not being valuable because he wasnt the inventor. The pathos is everyone, everyone has seen an Apple product and has seen the way it has brought joy into everyday life. My Opinion The overall article states facts and proves that without Jobs, Apple wouldnt have made it. Jobs was a visionary and knew that one day all computers would be in American households. He pushed people to make and create that vision.

Macworld Staff. Steve Jobs: The Man Who Saved Apple. Macworld 28.11 (2011): 14-18. Web. n.p. Academic Search Premier. Web. 4 September 2013. Summary Apple became the most successful company in the world in 2011, all thanks to one man, Steve Jobs (Macworld). If it wasnt for Jobs, Apple wouldnt be what it is today. In 1985 after Jobs was no longer CEO, due to the unsuccessful Super Bowl commercial in 1984 introducing the first Macintosh (Macworld). Once welcomed back to Apple, Jobs instinctively started brainstorming new ideas. In 1998 the original IMac was released, (Macworld). With sales of 800,000 IMacs within the first five months, Jobs new he was back and he hadnt lost the vision that he had for Apple in 1971 (Macworld). With so much success Apple opened their first retail stores in 2001, now Apple has over 300 stores across the world. (Macworld). Also in 2001 Apple released the first Mac OS X operating system, which is featured in all Apple products sold today (Macworld).

Davis 4 Jobs stated in an online interview in 2001, People dont just want to buy personal computers anymore; they want to know what they can do with them. And were going to show people exactly that, (Macworld). Rhetorical Analysis The logos of this article is facts of Jobs and his career, there really isnt much of a logical message trying to be perceived. With Macworld writing this article the ethos is trying to make you fall in love with Jobs. They are trying to prove that he did no wrong, in reality he did wrong every now and then. The pathos is Apple lovers. My Opinion With this article I see where Macworld is trying to convince the reader to love Jobs. The end of this article is a time line of Jobs life, never once states when he was addicted to drugs or psychotic.

Maich, Steve. When the Personal Business is Public Business. Macleans 121.25 (2008): 1. Web. n.p. Academic Search Premier. Web. 4 September 2013. Summary When Jobs took the stage at the Worldwide Developers Conference in June of 2008 many knew his health was, Hanging over Apple like a dark cloud, (Maich). At this conference Jobs released the new IPhone, which was more advance than the IPhone 1st generation (Maich). In 2004 Jobs was diagnosed with malignant tumor found in his pancreas, his cancer was treated and there was no signs of him being ill after his surgery (Maich). Many couldnt help but think, Does Jobs have cancer again? Jobs passed away on October 5th, 2011 due to pancreatic cancer.

Davis 5 Rhetorical Analysis The logos of this article is to prove how much Jobs was loved and how his illness was contagious to the success of Apple. The ethos from Maich is fair; you really feel his compassion of Jobs health. The pathos is the people of Apple and the people who love Apple products. My Opinion I personally feel that this article was needed at the time of Jobs illness. It was clear to civilians that something was wrong with him and made it known. A few weeks after this article Jobs had resigned from Apple due to being ill and made a statement to the public.

Survey done off of Facebook of 50 people Summary Thirty-four out of fifty people say that Steve Jobs is a true inventor, most people stated that because he took an idea and made it his. Kenneth Brown stated, Yes, the idea is the most important part of the process. He may have lacked in the ability to create his vision but found a way for it to still happen. Brandon Sosa also commented that, Realistically, he was an inventor. The fact that he never had the skills to complete the work is true. However, most inventors, especially nowadays, don't have the skills to build (complete) the ideas they come up with. They come up with the idea and pay someone else to build it, and the still get the credit for it. Why? Because anybody can build something, it takes an inventor to come up with the idea to change something. Sixteen of fifty people said no, Steve Jobs isnt a true inventor. They stated that he took the original idea but didnt come up with it, he was a visionary. Christopher Powell said, No. He's an innovator. The inventions were in place for him to improve upon. And Preston Garbett

Davis 6 also added that, Inventor, he was the original competitor to windows back when both companies were much smaller. Just because youre the first on the market doesn't mean that you had the original idea.
