LAMBS TALES FROM SHAKESPEARE

Prospero was the duke of Milan. But his wicked brother Antonio had usurped his dukedom. As Prospero was fond of studying books on magic, he had handed over the reins of his dukedom to Antonio. But Antonio, with the help on Prosperos enemy, the king of Naples, had succeeded in banishing Prospero. He had forced Prospero, and his three year old daughter, Miranda, into a small boat out on the sea, at natures mercy. Only kind Gonzalo had secretly put some food, water, clothing and books in their boat. By bods grace, the boat had carried them to lonely island where Prospero landed with his infant daughter. Twelve years had passed in the meantime. Miranda had grown into a beautiful young girl. Prospero had used his magical powers to subjugate sycorax, the witch who had been reigning supreme on that enchanted island before propers arrival. Proper with his magic had set free many of the good spirits that sycorac had shut up in the trees of the inland. Ariel was the chief of these good spirits. In gratitude, he had been carrying out the commands of Prospero, as his loyal servant. Prospero also utilized the services of caliban, an ugly ape lide manster, and son of sycorax, as his slave. Xaliban was giver the most laborious tasks to perform and ariel usually forced him to perform these hard tasks. One day as Prospero stood with Miranda on the sea shore, he raised a storm in the sea by his magic. A large ship was caught up in this storm and was about to sink. This ship was carrying Prosperos wicked brother Antonio and his mischievous friend, the king of Naples. Also on the ship were Ferdinand, the young prince of Naples, the kind and old Gonzalo, and a number of other courtiers and sailors. Prosperos intention was not to drown them all in the sea, but only to teach a good lesson to Antonio and the king of Naples. By his magic, they were all cast ashore upon his magic island, though each person in a different part of the island. According to Prosperos plan, Ferdinand was brought by Ariel near Miranda and the two fell in love at first sight. Prospero feigned to test Ferdinands faithfulness towards Miranda by setting him laborious tasks like lifting and arranging heavy logs of wood. Ferdinand was so deeply in love with Miranda that he completed all these difficult tasks successfully. Meanwhile, Antonio and the king of Naples wandered about on the island searching for Ferdinand, whom they had taken to be drowned. As wished by Prospero, Ariel played clever tricks on Antonio and the king of Naples. He laid a delightful feast before them and just when they wanted to eat it he had made it all disappear. Then he had appeared before them in the shape of a monster and reminded them of their cruelty to duke Prospero and his infant daughter. When both Antonio and the king of Naples were filled with sorrow and remorse. Ariel brought them before Prospero. Both Antonio and the king of Naples were extremely delighted to see Ferdinand alive and courting Prosperos beautiful daughter Miranda. Antonio begged his brothers forgiveness and promised to return the dukedom to him. The king of Naples also happily asked Mirandas hand for his son, Ferdinand. Soon Prospero arranged for all of them to return to Milan and Naples on the sane ship which he had saved from sinking. Before their departure, Prospero fulfilled his promise of reloading all the spirits including Ariel, to freedom. Thus everything ended in a happy reunion and reconciliation.
