2. Company's process:

According to this website, Crude oil and natural gas is produced all over the world. Chevron's job is to collect it as well as sell it According to this website, 25% of production comes from USA and the rest from 20 other countries Oil is extracted from the ground and transported in barrels to where it is required. It is said to accumulate 2.61 million barrels per day worldwide.

Oil is distributed through gas stations around the world and also sell lubricants for your cars etc.

3. Information on impacts of the company:

According to this website, a number of Chevron workers die every year in accidents that happen during their work and that Chevron is a very unsafe place to work as many deaths occur there On the other hand, this website(which gets its results from previous or current workers) claim that life working as a Chevron employee is very enjoyable and that the pay for the amount of work time is reasonable I feel that the second website seems much more trustworthy and sources its information from people who know what it is like to work there According to this website, the Kazakhstan plant has been majorly ruining the greenery in the country and has been creating major sinkholes within a 10km radius of the plant. Chevron have done nothing to address this problem and dont seem to be addressing it in the near future. The products in which Chevron distribute affect the consumers in no way but does affect the workers that have to collect it as it is a very dangerous job. There is no information on the web of any ethical violations that Chevron has made and it clearly says on its website that the four "yes" answers are required to qualify an action as ethical and in step with Chevron's values o Is it legal? o Is it consistent with company policy? o Is it consistent with The Chevron Way?

4. Information in the news

Chevron has been in the news twice in just under a month for bad reasons According to this website, a Chevron worker died in a refinery in Mississippi after a fire burst out Nothing else was said about the man who died Does this mean that Chevron just moves on every time they kill an innocent victim? According to this website, Chevron has also refused to take the claims that they were polluting Ecuador. A lawyer has been fighting Chevron for them to take the claim but Chevron continues to refuse.

S.W.O.T Analysis: Strengths Working with non-profit organizations to solve problems in the communities in which Chevron works in Established a whole set of values in which they seem to have achieved Has gotten reassurance from thousands of workers worldwide about the reasonable pay for the amount of time Questions themselves before doing something that may be unethical Opportunities Somehow after the death of the worker in Mississippi, the stock price of Chevron went up by 7 cents Weaknesses Overuses the fossil fuels (which is a valuable resource) used in oil and gas Chevron workers die every year from in work accidents (e.g. fire etc.)

Threats

Kazakhstan Chevron plant making sinkholes ( May cause for other oil rich countries to stop Chevron from drilling for oil in their territory) Chevrons Ecuador plant ruining the Ecuadorian water etc. (same reason as above)

Final Paragraph: I think that Chevron as a company, have many strengths in which they develop majorly which is very good for the development of the company. This can be seen when they continuously work with nonprofit organizations, governments and even people in their communities to help these communities not only in economic development but also in health and education. Their work ethics and how they treat their workers seem very convincing as a handful of sources stated that Chevron treats their workers very well. It was a rarity to see otherwise. The image that Chevron proposes on the other hand is not a very good image. I say this as Chevron have continued to use the dying resource known as fossil fuels and they put it in a way that makes it seem like it is necessary. This is not true and Chevron needs to find a way to solve this. The jobs that Chevron gives its workers are also extremely dangerous and have resulted in many deaths as of today. The sadder part is that Chevron doesnt even take accountability neither do they compensate the family of the killed worker. This is highly unethical and goes against every single one of Chevrons values. Chevron has also been accused of creating sinkholes and polluting the environment in two of the communities in which it has a Chevron refinery etc. The sadder part of this is that Chevron refuse to take accountability of this and refuse to even help mend the wounds created by their company. In final, Chevron has its strengths, which do help many communities worldwide but some practices do cause pain and suffering to other communities in which the company inhabits. Evaluation of process: Throughout the researching stage of this assessment, I have found out the basic information about Chevron, information of the process Chevron takes, impacts that Chevron has as well as its current status in the news. When researching, I mostly double-checked whether my source seemed reliable (e.g. not ask.com etc.). This would give me better and more truthful information. One problem that I

seemed to face was that searching for basic information on Google gave me basic but useless information. Most of the information showing up in the basic feed was usually nothing that I was looking for. The real juicy and factual information I wanted was in the harder section, but then again they put it in a really difficult to understand form. At the end of it, I collected very useful information in which I think is all factually true and all from reliable sources. One big point that really helped me was the fact that Chevron is a very big and famous company so there was no lack of juicy information for me. The only possible improvement I can think of to my information would probably be to use more information in my own words. Majority of my notes were not in my own words as I did not know how to word it. This could be a working point for the future.
