CODE OF ETHICS The Code of Ethics is provided to advise members of what is acceptable practise.

It is intended to ensure that the public are protected from improper practices and to establish and maintain proper standards of behaviour by members of the Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Limited. The Directors of The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Limited reserve the ri ht to consider any form of professional misconduct which may be brou ht to their attention! even thou h such misconduct may not appear to come within the scope or precise wordin of any of the rules set out in the Code of Ethics. "pplications for all cate ories of membership are accepted on the understandin that members will adhere to the restrictions defined in the Code of Ethics. "pplications which are made in contravention of the Code of Ethics will be considered to have been made under false pretences. DEFINITIONS #$embers# refers to all cate ories of membership of The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists ie. %ull $embers! "ssociate $embers! &tudent $embers and 'verseas $embers. The %eminine shall include the $asculine. CODE OF ETHICS $embers are obli ed to uphold the di nity of the profession and shall conduct themselves in conformity with ood taste and professional decorum. $embers a ree to act honourably towards their clients and fellow practitioners. $embers a ree to maintain the confidentiality of their clients at all times. $embers must refrain from criticisin the wor( of fellow practitioners. $embers must not underta(e treatments which are beyond the scope of their professional trainin . $embers who do not hold a relevant medical )ualification must advise clients to consult a medical practitioner in such cases. $embers must not treat any client for a condition which! to her (nowled e! is at the time under the care of a medical practitioner without the (nowled e and consent of that practitioner. $embers should en)uire before treatin a client for the first time if the client is under the care of a medical practitioner. $embers must not ive in*ections or prescribe pills! ointments or lotions which should be prescribed by a medical practitioner. $embers must not en a e in activities which are ille al or immoral. $embers must not wor( in! or be associated with establishments which offer services which are ille al or immoral. BREACH OF CODE "ny breach of The Code of Ethics may be deemed professional misconduct. The Directors of The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists reserve the ri ht to suspend or terminate membership of the individual or roup of individuals in such cases. The decision of the Directors in such cases is final. "ll certificates! bad es! si ns and publicity materials remain the property of The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists Limited and must be returned on termination of membership.
