MTN contributes to Quality Education by constructing new classroom block for Kintampo Community
MTN Ghana has provided a six unit classroom block with a value of GHC 244,391.00, for Dr Saunders Community Basic School at Kintampo. The block consists of a head teachers office, an office, an information and communication technology centre and a store. The project which is a gift from MTN Ghana is aimed at improving quality education. Mr James Bukari Basintale, Northern Business District Manager of MTN, said MTN will continue to partner with government to create the right environment for effective teaching and learning in schools. He further explained that parents should take advantage of the additional classroom space to increase child enrolment. Mr Basintale took the opportunity to encourage the students to study hard, saying they should take responsibility of their own future. Stakeholders in education, including government, teachers, parents and communities are making sacrifices to provide opportunities for children to pursue academic careers, he said. With a population of 1,330 pupils, MTNs project has brought a big sigh of relief to the situation where teachers and pupils were forced to hold classes under trees.
