Baptism Preparation Coordinator Overview

Baptism is an initiation into the Paschal Mystery and life in a community of faith. Under the direction of the Rector and in cooperative effort with the Pastoral Team, the Baptism Preparation Coordinator organizes and facilitates the process of preparing families to cele rate the Baptism of their child. The Baptism Preparation Coordinator shares a love for the Church, an understanding of Baptism as a !acrament of "nitiation and em odies the importance of #ospitality.

Activities/Responsibilities
Commits to the full process. Maintains a current list of Baptism Preparation Team Mem ers Maintains contact list of parents wanting to participate in the Baptism Preparation. $nsures any changes in the list of Baptism Preparation Team Mem ers are communicated promptly to the Parish %olunteer !creening Committee. "mplements the Baptism Preparation process as developed in consultation with the Rector. Recruits, trains, supervises and evaluates Baptism Preparation Team Mem ers. $nsures that appropriate materials are availa le for the program and to recommend the purchase of re&uired resources to the Rector. Collects registrations and aptismal certificates and completes all administrative wor'. (ssists in setting dates and preparing for liturgies. )acilitates information and parent meetings for Baptism Preparation. $nsures that a prayerful spirit prevails throughout the Preparation process. "s responsi le for replacement of Baptism Preparation Team Mem ers in the event of short notice cancellation. Meets with families who are una le to attend meetings and*or gatherings. (rranges for certificates and for names to e recorded in the Parish registers. Colla orates with the Rector and with other mem ers of the parish staff, integrating his*her own area of responsi ility with the overall parish process. "s responsi le for the periodic evaluation of all aspects of the process. (ttends and participates in the liturgical cele rations when availa le. !chedules and is availa le for all team meetings.

Skills, Experience, and Quali ications


"s a fully initiated mem er of the Catholic Church in good standing. Must e at least +, years of age and e a confirmed, practicing Catholic #as een an active mem er of the parish for at least - years. "s recognized within the parish community as a person of solid reputation. )ormal studies or training in the area of theology, religious education or pastoral ministry is recommended. !hould have e.perience in Baptism Preparation process. #as appropriate leadership, organizational and facilitation s'ills and the a ility to implement programs. "s a le to coach, delegate, foster open communication, develop team dynamics and support the gifts of others in ministry.

Can relate effectively and communicate clearly with others. "n cases of emergency, 'nows contacts and*or procedures. Must e willing to participate in current and ongoing formation.
