Minutes

Attendance: Randy Tramp, Rod Veldhuizen, Jeff Mantz, Jeremy Nelson, Dean Trapp, Jeri Burns ,
Bob Cabbel, Bob Mason, Tracy Headley, Dave Lund, Lance Lindgren, Derek Lee, Sandi Mathis

Devotions: Lance spoke out of Matthew 9. The question was asked: “Why does Jesus eat with
sinner?” Jesus replied, “The sick need a doctor.”
Mercy not sacrifice
There is an art to binding wounds. Christ receives sinners to heal them.

Financial Report: YAMA account – 358.60; ERTH account – 897.97; YOUTH account – 646.78

Boy Scouts: Derek Lee & Rod Veldhuizen gave a report on the Boy Scouts.
This year is the 100 anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America.
Historically the Boy Scouts have recruited through the schools. Schools are less receptive of the Boy
Scouts. Derek & Rod asked churches to support the Boy Scouts.
Scouts are expected to have a belief in God.

Alexandria Hoffman, (Former Miss South Dakota) will be speaking at Mount Marty on September 22,
2009 at 6:30 pm on the hazards of sports drugs

Sandi asked that churches become involved.

never heard of in 14 years of drug and alcohol counseling.

Letter by Youth Pastors: A letter was drafted to be delivered to the Middle/High School. The letter
contained a “thank you” for allowing student to leave early if there was a youth function. Included was
a plea that consideration be made for church youth activities on Wednesday nights, i.e. tests and
homework reduction for Thursdays.

Youth Workers Meeting: Jeremy reported that the youth ministers get together once a month. The
next meeting is next Tuesday (Sept 15) at noon. Place: HyVee

Siouxland Interdenominational TEC Jeremy reported about having TEC this fall at Calvary Baptist
church. It’s for students in grades 10th – 12th grade. It’s 3 days of separating themselves and getting
the message of the cross.
November 13-15, 2009

Children’s Divorce Care: Jeremy reported that Calvary will have a Children’s Divorce Care.
KC4K is a group for elementary children to help from the hurt of divorce.

National Day of Prayer Meeting in Tuesday, September 15, 2009 at 9:30 am - United Way Building

The vision is the young people to be involved with the National Day of Prayer
National Day of Prayer is 1st Thursday of May, May 6, 2010

Cable Church Program Pastor Jeff asked Bob Cappel to check into the possibility of changing from
VCR to DVD concerning the Church Service recording that is brought to the Chamber of Commerce.
