Participation in Major Programmes Identified at the National Level Sl. No. Title of the Project Clean Coal Technologies (Carbon Capture, Value Addition & Storage): Utilization of CO2 as Soft Oxidant for Oxidation Reactions Coordinating Agency National Mission on Clean Coal Technologies (CCT), Govt. of India Contribution being made as representative of the organization The main objective of this task is to develop highly efficient catalysts and process conditions for oxidative dehydrogenation of ethylbenzene to styrene utilizing CO2 as soft oxidant. Very promising catalysts were developed and being evaluated in a semi-pilot plant scale reactor. The same technology will be extended to other reactions such as light alkanes (ethane, propane and butane) to alkenes utilizing CO2 as soft oxidant. Under this program, we at IICT lead an independent team to design novel catalyst formulations and their testing in both liquid phase (batch reactor) and vapour phase (fixedbed) conditions. Very promising catalysts were developed for the conversion of glycerol to valueadded products.
