Necessary Tools for Addressing of Hoppe Tank Level Sensor type “ HOBUS , HCG 4011 “

- 1 pc Notebook or Computer with free RS 232 Port, USB Port

with Windows 98,Windows NT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP
-
1 pc Converter RS 485<-> RS 232
1 pc Converter RS 485<-> USB with free RS 232 Port

1. Installation of Software
- install the Application program “ Dotnetfx “ from Microsoft and follow the installation on the screen
- install the “ Hobus “ program by double click on the Setup Icon and follow the installation on the screen

Create a Shortcut to the batch file “startHobusConfig.bat” ( see picture 1 )

3. Start the program by double click on the Shortcut “startHobusConfig.bat”

4. Software for addressing of HOBUS Sensor will started , when Com Port is correct
please be so kind and move to point no. 7
 5. If you get an Error message as below, ( picture 2 ),
please be so kind and check the installed Com Port for these Application
This message will create if the COM Port is already in use by another Applikation.
Please be so kind and change the Com Port for the HOBUS address Program
( picture 3 to picture 7

6. click on the Shortcut for the HOBUS program with the right mouse button and move to the
pop-up menu “ edit”.( see picture 3 )

7. The file “startHobusConfig.bat” will be open and it’s now possible to change the COM Port

8 click inside the window and change the Com Port ( see picture 4 to 6 ),
don’t forget to save the modification

 9. Please be so kind and start the Software for addressing of HOBUS Sensor ,
if you get the Alarm Text from picture No. 2 again please be so kind and repeat Step to 6 to Step 9

10 If program is correct started you will see following screen.

- Program for addressing for HOBUS Senors is started
11 to scan the Hobus Sensor it is necessary that the data bus from the
MIP Tank Level System is disconnect

( Please be so kind and unplugged the Connector X1 on the MIP Tank Level, this plug is on the rear
side of the MIP Tank Level )

12 inside the left side of the Hobus Config window, you can insert the address scan area for the sensors.
The address for the sensors you will find inside the sensor list.
Please insert inside” long address start “ the lowest address of Sensors from Sensor List
Please insert inside” long address stop “ the highest address of Sensors from Sensor List
After them please push the button “start scan”
All Sensor address which was find from the program,will be listed inside the window below,
also all Sensor address will be written in a logfile.
The Logfile will be create in the folder see attached marked No.1

13 to initialisation the Hobus Sensor it is necessary that the data bus from the

14 inside the Hobus Config window, you can insert the address initialisation for the sensors.
It is possible to init the sensor manually step by step or automatically by a init list .

15 Manual init
The long and short address for the sensors you will find inside the sensor list.
It is only possible to program 1 sensor on time
e.g. insert the long address from sensor list 8100067E and the short address 910001
After them please push the button “initialisation sensor ”
You get from the sensor a confirmation if he accept the address.
If you don’t get a confirmation the sensor are not corresponding.

15a. Automatic init

For init by list please be so kind and contact Hoppe to get a file with the correct short and long Address
All sensors will be automatically program acc address list

If you want automatically adjust all sensor , please push the button “initialisation by list ”
There will be opened another window where you must selected the file you get from Hoppe.

select the File Name:XXXXX_address.txt and click open this file.

17. The Sensors will be automatically programmed

You get from the sensor a confirmation if he accept the address.

If you don’t get a confirmation the sensor are not corresponding.

18. to read out the Hobus Sensor it is necessary that the data bus from the
MIP Tank Level System is disconnect

( Please be so kind and unplugged the Connector X1 on the MIP Tank Level, this plug is on the rear
side of the MIP Tank Level )

19. with the read values menu you can read out 1 sensor directly, than you get the
actual data’s from these sensor
insert the short address from the sensor acc. Sensor list and marked the check box interval,
after them please be so kind and push the button read values.

20 For read out the data`s from another sensor re-marked the check box “interval” and insert a
new short address from the sensor list.

21. Inside menue “ factory settings” you can read out the long address from the sensor,
but here you must connected directly on the sensor cable inside the connection box.
