Software-Update Guide V2.17

Performing a Software-Update: Step by Step

To apply a software update to your Powador 30.0-72.0 TL3 series inverter, please use an empty, FAT32formatted USB drive with at least 128 MB of memory (no external hard disk drives or card readers!). Extract the whole software update (ZIP-file) to the prepared mass storage device and plug it into the USB port of the TL3 series inverter. We recommend the free tool 7-Zip to unzip the files to the USB drive. Note! The copying of the software update to the inverter (the display shows the message from figure 2) will take about 30 seconds. If the copying process goes by very fast (around 2-3 seconds), there is a problem with reading the USB drive or the contained data! In this case please format the drive (FAT32) again. Now you need to create the directories as shown in the ZIP-file manually and copy the data accordingly. Repeat the update process once again.

Figure 2: SW-Update successfully started

When you plug the USB drive containing the software update into the inverter, a message will appear on the display (see figure 1). To proceed with the update, confirm the notification with Yes. To cancel the update process and close the shown window, confirm with No. You can change the selection using the arrow buttons and confirm by pressing the Enter button. After copying of the software update to the device has been finished, the system automatically restarts itself and begins with the updates. During this process you can see the current status on the display. The complete update may take several minutes. When updating from an older software version (V1.xx), the update may take up to 30 minutes in total. Caution! Do not power off DC during the software update process and perform the update during daytime or at a sufficient DC power level! Do not remove the USB drive until the message from figure 1 appears and the update process has been completely finished! Otherwise the update of some critical components may fail, the software will be corrupted or the inverter will be damaged!

To control the success of the software update, please have a look at the software information dialog in the information menu and check the versions (see SW-Versions to check) of all single components.

Performing a Software-Update: Quick Installation Guide

1) Turn on AC and DC and check these voltages, before you start the software update. 2) Plug the USB drive into the inverter and confirm with Yes by pressing the Enter button. 3) Follow the messages on the display and do not remove the USB drive during the update process. 4) Wait until the installation has been finished and the message from figure 1 appears again. 5) Check the installed software versions in the information menu dialog.

SW-Versions to check
o PKT: o ARM: o CFG: o DSP-AC: o DSP-DC: V2.17 V2.20 (596C) V5.0602 (A134) V1.66 (D2E9) V1.54 (8678)

Checking the correct software version requires DC power supply because all system components have to be present (the update of the menu dialog may take some seconds). Please note that the software versions may vary according to the chosen country. In those cases check the Build-Code inside the brackets of each software version to verify that the update was successfully finished.
