A calendar that includes daily readings covering the whole Bible in one year, in a thematic fashion.
Description and Examples This Bible reading schedule is thematic or connective in nature. The goal is to make as many associations as possible between the different parts of Scripture while still reading individual books of the Bible from start to finish. Only the Psalms are not read in consecutive order. The Psalms are individually apportioned throughout the year to increase the number of connections that can be observed and appreciated. Each years plan is different. This years plan begins with Genesis and 1st Timothy. Examples of the thematic approach in this years plan: Jan 1: Psalm 19 (a creation Psalm) with Genesis 1 (creation) Jan 6: Holding wealth with a light hand, found in all three texts Genesis 14:22-24, Psalm 112:3-5, and 1 Timothy 6:17-19 Mar 28: Deuteronomy 5 and Matthew 5: the law of God, and Jesus further explanation of that law in the Sermon on the Mount April 19: Psalm 22:1 and Matthew 27:46: My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? June 3: 2 Samuel 11-12 and Psalm 51, Davids fall into sin and his confession of that sin Aug 31: Trouble in the church: Jeremiahs difficulties with opposing prophets, and Johns difficulties with Diotrephes, Jeremiah 28-29 and 3rd John 1 Sept 9: 1st John 1 and Psalm 32, confession of sin Dec 1st: John 19 and Colossians 1 and 2: the cross of Christ This only a small sample of what is to be found in this Bible reading plan. There are many other connections, both major and minor, besides these. With most of the Psalms used in this manner, the number of days with connections exceeds one hundred. There is, however, no regular interval within which a day with these connections occurs. It is entirely possible that the reader may go as many as three weeks without seeing anything of a substantially similar nature between the days readings, but at other times, the connections will come thick and fast.
Acknowledgements The editor is indebted to a great number of men who laid the foundation for these plans, many of whose names are lost to history. Chief among those who are known are: Robert Murray MCheyne, Scottish pastor and the creator of the world-renowned MCheyne Bible Reading Plan, and R. A. Torrey, compiler of the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge. Frequent use has also been made of the cross-reference systems found in the New American Standard Bible, the English Standard Version, and the 27th edition of Novum Testamentum Graece. Availability PDFs of this calendar may be obtained by emailing the editor at the address shown below. Also available for those who request it is a single-sheet summary of the calendar that only contains the Bible reading plan, and, when folded, fits conveniently in most Bibles. The Bible is a corridor between two eternities down which walks the Christ of God; His invisible steps echo through the Old Testament, but we meet Him face to face in the throne room of the New; and it is through that Christ alone, crucified for me, that I have found forgiveness for sins and life eternal. The Old Testament is summed up in the word Christ; the New Testament is summed up in the word Jesus; and the summary of the whole Bible is that Jesus is the Christ. Bishop Pollock

Our God can work through means or above them. He that puts the treasure into earthen vessels, often allows the vessels to be chipped and broken, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. Robert Murray MCheyne, on 2 Corinthians 4:7

The Lord is your keeper; the Lord is the shade on your right hand. The sun will not hurt you by day, nor will the moon hurt you at night. Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of the saints. Let Israel be glad in her Maker, let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King. Let them praise his name with dancing, and sing praises to him with timbrel and lyre. For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he will beautify the afflicted with salvation. Psalm 149:1-4
In a large place the Lord hath set me; in my distress He heard my cry. I will not fear, the Lord is with me; what can man do, when God is nigh? The Lord is chief among my helpers; and I shall see my foes oerthrown: Far better than in man or princes, my trust I place in God alone. Psalm 118:5-9, Strasbourg Psalter

Every Christians study of the Bible should include fast and slow speeds. The more you know of the whole Bible, the more meaningful will be your meditation on any single place within it. You will appreciate the shade of the tree under which you are sitting all the more when you are aware of the forest in which your tree is located.

I find you grow more and more famous in the learned world. As you have made a pretty considerable progress in the mysteries of electricity, I would now humbly recommend to your diligent, unprejudiced pursuit and study, the mystery of the new birth. It is a most important, interesting study; and, when mastered, will richly answer and repay you for all your pains. One, at whose bar we are shortly to appear, hath solemnly declared, without it we cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. You will excuse this freedom. I must have something of Christ in all my letters. Sing for joy in the Lord, O you righteous ones; praise is fitting for the upright. Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; sing praises to him on a harp of ten strings. Sing to him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy. For the word of the Lord is upright, and all his work is done in faithfulness. He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the lovingkindness of the Lord. Psalm 33:1-5

There will be silence before you, O God, in Zion, and vows will be performed to you. O you who hear prayer, to you all flesh shall come. When iniquities prevail against me, you atone for our transgressions. How happy is the one whom you choose and bring near, to dwell in your courts. We will be satisfied with the goodness of your house, your holy temple. Psalm 65:1-4
To say prayers in a decent, delicate way is not heavy work. But to pray really, to pray till hell feels the ponderous stroke, to pray till the iron gates of difficulty are opened, till the mountains of obstacles are removed, till the mists are exhaled and the clouds are lifted, and the sunshine of a cloudless day brightens-this is hard work, but it is God's work, and man's best labor. For, after all, put it as we may to ourselves, we are all of us from birth to death guests at a table which we did not spread. The sun, the earth, love, friends, our very breath are parts of the banquet.... Shall we think of the day as a chance to come nearer to our Host, and to find out something of Him who has fed us so long? Rebecca Harding Davis

O think! To step on shore, and that shore, Heaven! To take hold of a hand, and that Gods hand; To breathe new air, and feel it celestial air; To feel invigorated, and to know it immortality; To pass from the storm and tempest, to one unbroken calm; To wake up, and find it GLORY!
