8.1.1 This part of the Code covers the minimum requirements of building materials, and the criteria for accepting new or alternative building materials.

8.2.1 Every material used in fulfillment of the requirements of this Part, unless otherwise specified in this Code or approved, shall conform to the specifications issued by the Ghana Standards uthority. !n the case of materials where Ghana Standards are not available, the materials shall conform to the specifications issued by the recogni"ed authority. list of acceptable standard specifications are given at the end of this part of the Code. 8.2.2 The list given at the end of this part of the Code would be augmented from time to time by amendments, revisions and additions. The uthority shall ta#e cognisance of such amendments and revisions. The latest version of a specification shall, as far as possible, be adopted at the time of enforcement of this part of the Code. Every test of material required in this part or by the uthority having $urisdiction shall be carried out in accordance with standard methods of test issued by the Ghana Standards uthority. !n the absence of methods of Tests where Ghana standards are not available, the tests shall conform to the methods of tests issued by the recogni"ed authority. /aboratory tests shall be conducted by recogni"ed laboratories acceptable to the Ghana Standards uthority.
