README SAS Download Manager

Overview
TheSASDownloadManagerisaJavabasedclientusedtoaccesstheSASsoftwarerepositoryin ordertodownloadselectedSASorders.ItisnotusedtoactuallyinstallyourSASsoftwareorder.The JRErequiredbytheSASDownloadManagerisincludedwiththedownload(exceptonz/OS).The SASDownloadManager,oncefullyextracted,requiresapproximately16to150MBofspacetorun. Note: UsingtheSASDownloadManageronsomedistributionsof64bitLinuxmayrequireinstallinga compatlibstdc++RPM.PleaserefertoyourLinuxinstallationmaterialsfordetailsontheavailablility ofthecompatlibstdc++packageandpackagemanagementutilitiesforthedistributionyouareusing. Usetheinstallationinstructionsinthosematerialstoinstallthecompatlibstdc++RPM.Ifthereisno referencetothecompatlibstdc++inthosematerials,thecompatlibstdc++RPMisnotrequiredforthe distributionyouareusing.

Downloading the SAS Download Manager

Installing the SAS Download Manager on Windows, UNIX, or Macintosh

Note: IfyouareinstallingyoursoftwareonaUNIXsystem,makesurethatawindowingenvironment suchastheCommonDesktopEnvironmentorX11isinstalled.TheSASDownloadManagerhasa graphicaluserinterface. 1. AfteryouhavedownloadedtheSASDownloadManager,startitsinstaller,usingthemethod thatisappropriateforthehostyouhavedownloadedto. WindowsIfyoudecidedtosavethefileinsteadofrunningitfromthedownload,double clickonesdclient.exetofullyexpanditinitslocation(ifyourWindowsoperating systemisWindowsVistaorlater,youmayhavetorightclicktheesdclient.exeand selectRunasadministrator).Afterithasexpanded,theSASDownloadManagerwillbegin installing. UNIXAfterSetup_XXisdownloaded(whereXXisthenameofthehostyouare downloadingto),settheexecutebitusingthefollowingcommand: chmod +x Setup_XX IssuethefollowingcommandtostartinstallingtheSASDownloadManager: ./Setup_XX Note: IfyouareinstallingonHPUX,Solaris,orSolarisforx64,donotattempttousethe ampersandparameter(&)inordertoinvoketheinstallerinthebackground. MacintoshDoubleclicktheSASDownloadManager filetounpackthefileinitslocation(if youhaveyourfileextensionsturnedon,thefilenamewillbeSASDownloadManager.app). Afterthefileisunpacked,theSASDownloadManagerwillbegininstallinginthatlocation.

Afterthedownloadedfilesareextracted,theWelcomescreenopens.ClickNexttocontinue. ThenextscreenallowsyoutonameadirectorylocationfortheSASDownloadManagertobe installed.EnteralocationinthetextboxorusetheBrowsebuttontosearchforalocation.SAS recommendsthatMacintoshusersacceptthedefaultlocation.IfyouareusingWindows7and notrunningasanadministrator,youshouldselectaninstallationlocationthatiswritable.When thelocationyouwishtoinstallSASDownloadManagerisinthetextbox,clickNext. Thesummaryscreenopens,describingthelocationyouareinstallingtoandtheapproximatesize oftheinstallation.ClickNexttocontinue. Theprogressscreenopens,showingthesoftwarebeinginstalledandtheprogress.Ifyouneedto stoptheinstallationprocessforsomereason,clickCancel.Otherwisetheinstallationprogram willcontinuetothenextscreen. WhentheSASDownloadManagerisinstalled,twoscreensopen:onedescribingasuccessful installationandasecondthatistheChooseLanguagescreenforusingtheSASDownload Manager.ClickFinishtoclosethesuccessscreen.Ifyouintendtodownloadasoftwareorder, followthestepsinthenextsection.Otherwise,clickCanceltoclosetheChooseLanguagedialog.

Installing SAS Download Manager on z/OS

Thez/OSusercanusetheSASDownloadManagertocreateaSASSoftwareDepot.TheinstallofSAS softwareonasystemrequiresaccesstoadepoteitheronalocalfilesystemoronanetworkaccessible filesystemviaanNFSmount.Ifthedepotiscreatedinanetworkaccessiblelocation,thenother

machines,includingz/OS,canruntheirrespectivedeploymentsdirectlyfromit.Likewise,ifthe depothasbeencreatedbyanothermachine(suchasWindowsorUNIX)inanetworklocationthatis accessiblebyz/OS,thenthereisnoneedtoruntheSASDownloadManagerdirectlyonz/OS.Ifthe z/OSmachinedoesnothaveaccesstoanetworkfilesystem,thentheSASDownloadManagercanbe runonz/OS. IfyouchoosetousetheSASDownloadManagerrunningonz/OStocreateaSASSoftwareDepot,be awarethattypicaldownloadsrequiremoreCPUtimethanmostz/OSsystemsareconfiguredto allowinadefaultUNIXSystemServicessegment.SASrecommendsthattheSASDownload ManagerberunfromtheOMVSshellsinceTSO(wheretheOMVSshellruns)ismoreflexibleto configureforCPUandwaittime.IfthedownloadmanagerdoesexperienceanS322orS522,youmay easilyrestartittocontinuethedownload.ToincreasetheamountofCPUtimeavailabletothe downloadprocess,settheCPUTIMEMAXintheuseridsOMVSsegmenttoatleast1500.Inaddition, thisuseridwillneedasettingofatleast800MintheASSIZEMAXparameterintheOMVSsegment. YoumusthaveJavainstalledonthesystemwheretheSASDownloadManagerisrun,andyoumust haveanX11displayserveravailabletodisplaythedialogs. YoumusthaveJavainstalledonthesystemwheretheSASDownloadManagerisrun.Also,you musthaveanX11displayserveravailabletodisplaythedialogs. Usethefollowingstepstoputyourz/OSexecutableinplace: 1. 2. UseaWebbrowseronWindowsorUNIXtodownloadthez/OSversionoftheSAS DownloadManager(esdclient.zos)fromSAS. IfthedownloadlocationisnotNFSmountedtothez/OSsystem,transferthedownloaded filetotheUNIXfilesystemonz/OSviabinaryFTP.

Installing SAS Download Manager on OpenVMS on HP Integrity

IfyouareinstallingtheSASDownloadManagertoanOpenVMSonHPIntegritymachine,youmust beloggedintoitwithbypassprivilege.ThatmachinemusthaveDecWindowsMotif1.6onit,which isrequiredforuseoftheinteractiveSASwindowingenvironment.Youshouldsaveyourdownload toawritabledirectory.Finally,sys$scratchmustresideonanODS5volume. Whenthedownloadiscomplete,unzipthedownloadedpackageusingthecommand run esdclient.exe Note: IfyouplantodownloadanewerversionoftheSASDownloadManagertoanOpenVMSforHP IntegritymachinewhereyouhaveanexistingSASDownloadManagerinstalled,createanew directoryanddownloadandextracttheneweresdclient.exefiletothenewdirectory.

Using the SAS Download Manager

BeforeusingtheSASDownloadManagertodownloadyourfullSASsoftwareorder,ensurethatyou haveyourOrderNumberandSASInstallationKeyathand,sincetheSASDownloadManager requiresthem.TheOrderNumberandSASInstallationKeyareincludedonyourSoftwareOrder Email.Onceyouareready,usethefollowingprocesstodownloadyourSASsoftwareorder. 1. StarttheSASDownloadManager.Thedirectorylocationsprovidedbelowarethedefault installationlocations.IfyouinstalledSASDownloadManagerinalocationotherthanthe

onerecommendedbytheinstallationprogram,usethatlocationinsteadofthedefault location. WindowsIftheSASDownloadManagerisnotalreadyrunning,starttheSAS DownloadManagerbyusingtheStartmenu:StartProgramsSASSASDownload Manager1.4.Alternatively,youcandoubleclickesdclient.exeatC:\Program Files\SAS\SASDownloadManager\1.4(ifyourWindowsoperatingsystemis WindowsVistaorlater,youmayhavetorightclicktheesdclient.exeandselectRun asadministrator). UNIXIftheSASDownloadManagerisnotalreadyrunning,executeesdclient.shat /usr/local/SAS/SASDownloadManager/1.4. MacintoshIftheSASDownloadManagerisnotalreadyrunning,doubleclick esdclientat/Applications/SAS/SASDownloadManager/1.4.Ifyouhaveyour fileextensionsturnedon,thefilenamewillbeesdclient.app. OpenVMSonHPIntegrityIfyouarenotalreadyatthedirectoryyouunzippedthe packageinto,navigatetoitusingthecommandset def [.esdclient] Whenyouareattheappropriatedirectory,starttheSASDownloadManagerbyentering run esdclientonthecommandline. z/OSUnderthez/OSUNIXshell,cdtothedirectorywhereesdclient.zoshasbeen downloadedandsettheexecutebitsonusingchmod +x esdclient.zos.Thenissue thecommand./esdclient.zostoexecutetheSASDownloadManager.

AttheChooseLanguagedialog,selectthelanguageinwhichyouwouldliketoruntheSAS DownloadManager.SelectOK. IftheSASDownloadManagerisunabletoautomaticallydetectyourproxysettings,youwill bepromptedforyourproxyinformation.Ifyoudonotknowyourproxysettings,contact yoursystemadministratortoobtainyourHTTPproxyserver,portnumber,andlogin information. TheOrderInformationdialogopens.EntertheOrderNumberandSASInstallationKeyinto theappropriatefields.SelectNexttocontinue. Note: Itisveryimportantthatyoulocateyouroriginalsoftwareorderemailforthecorrectorder andSASinstallationkeytodownloadthesoftware.You*cannot*usearenewalorder number.Therenewalorderisalicenseupdateanditcannotbeusedtodownloadsoftware.If youcannotlocateyouroriginalsoftwareorderemail,contactyourSASInstallation RepresentativeorSASContractsatthefollowingURLs: http://support.sas.com/adminservices/contact.html http://support.sas.com/adminservices/sasrep.html http://support.sas.com/techsup/license

TheSpecifyOrderDetailsdialogopenswiththeOrderNumberandSASProductsto InstallboxespopulatedfromtheSASdatabase.Reviewtheproductsinyourorder.Ifthe productlistisnotwhatyouexpect,ensurethatyouhavethecorrectOrderNumber.Select BacktoenteradifferentOrderNumber. Iftheproductlistiscorrect,youcanenteranamefortheorderintheOrderDescriptionbox. TheOrderDescriptionboxwillhelpyoutodifferentiatebetweenmultipleorders. Whenyouaresatisfiedwiththecontentsofthisdialog,selectNext.

TheSpecifySASSoftwareDepotDirectorydialogopens.Enterthelocationyouwouldlike yourSASsoftwareorderdownloadedtointhetextbox.Yoursoftwareorderwillbe deliveredasaSASSoftwareDepot.YoucanusetheBrowsebuttontosearchthroughyour systemforaplacetoputyoursoftwareorder.Onceyouhaveenteredthelocationforyour softwareorder,selectDownload. Note: Ifyouhavealreadycreateda9.2SASSoftwareDepot,SASstronglyrecommendsusingthe samelocationforallsubsequentSAS9.2downloads. AstheSASDownloadManagerretrievesyoursoftwareorder,theprogressbarwillshow howmuchremainstobedownloaded.NotethattheSASDownloadManagerretrievesa compressedfileandextractsitaspartofthedownloadprocess.

WhentheSASDownloadManagerhasdownloadedandextractedyourSASsoftwareorder, theDownloadCompletedialogopens.SelectFinishtoclosetheapplication. Ifyouarenotinstallingonz/OS,youshouldusetheQuickStartGuidethatdescribeshowto installthesoftwareyouhaveretrieved.IfaQuickStartGuideisavailable,youcanfinditatthe followinglocation:<download location>\SAS Software Depot\depotsummary.html,where<download location>isthedirectorylocationyou downloadyourfilesto(thedefaultisC:\SAS Software Depot\depotsummary.html). Openthe depotsummary.htmlandclicktheViewQuickStartGuidelink.Ifyouhave multiplesoftwareordersinyourSASSoftwareDepot,besuretoconsulttheQuickStartGuide thatisassociatedwiththeorderyouareworkingwithbycomparingthesoftwareorder numbers.FollowtheproceduresdescribedintheQuickStartGuidethatopenstoinstallyour SASsoftware. Ifyouareinstallingonz/OSoraQuickStartGuideisnotavailableatthelocationdescribed above,thentheinstructionsthatyouneedtoinstallyoursoftwarearedocumentedinthe SoftwareOrderEmailthatyoureceived.

Uninstalling the SAS Download Manager on Windows or UNIX

ForallWindowsandUNIXoperatingsystems,youshoulduninstalltheSASDownloadManagerby runningtheuninstallexecutable.Thisexecutableisavailableunderthefolderwherethesoftware wasoriginallyinstalledinan_uninstESDsubdirectory.UNIXusersmustruntheuninstallfromone levelabovetherootinstallationdirectory. Examples: (Windows)C:\Program Files\SAS\SASDownloadManager\1.2\_uninstESD\ UninstESD.exe (Solaris)/usr/local/SAS/SASDownloadManager/1.2/UninstESD(runtheuninstallfrom /usr/local/SAS toremovethedirectories)

Uninstalling the SAS Download Manager on Macintosh

UsethefollowingstepstouninstalltheSASDownloadManagerfromaMacintoshmachine:

Fromaterminalwindow,navigatetotheuserdirectoryoftheIDusedtoinstalltheSAS DownloadManager.Removethefollowingdirectories: .SASAppData InstallShield SAS*

FromeitheraterminalwindowortheFinderutility,removethetargetdirectoryyouchose atinstalltime.Mosttypically,userswillhavedepositedJMPorSASintheApplications folder.

Uninstalling the SAS Download Manager on OpenVMS on HP Integrity

InordertouninstalltheSASDownloadManageronOpenVMSonHPIntegrity,simplyremovethe directorytreewheretheSASDeploymentWizardislocated.
