REQUIRED TEXT: W. J. Stevenson. Operations Management: Theory and Practice, 11th edition (Global Edition). COURSE OBJECTIVES: 1. Provide an overall picture of the operations management function of an organization and how it relates to the other organizational functions. 2. Cover the main concepts and tools used in designing, operating, and controlling the systems that produce goods and services. COURSE OUTCOMES: 1. See organizations and activities around us as operations management applications. 2. Develop students ability to suggest ways to improve the performance of an organization or activity using operations management methods. GRADING: Grades will be weighted as follows: Class attendance, Class participation and Subjective evaluation Quizzes (and Assignments) Final Exam (Sunday 11/5/2014, 5 pm 7 pm) Final course grades will be based on the intervals shown below.

All exams (including quizzes) are closed book and closed notes. Make sure to bring a B2 pencil, an eraser, a pencil sharpener, and a Calculator to all exams. During the exams you cannot use your mobile as a calculator and you are not allowed to borrow a calculator from someone else. STUDENT RESPONSIBILITIES: Students are expected to attend each class and be prepared to discuss the assigned chapters from the text book. Students who miss a class are responsible for obtaining notes and other assignments from other students attending the class. Missing classes and late arrivals will be penalized for missed classes and for late arrivals (both deducted from the class participation component of the course grade). You can miss two classes without being penalized. No doctor notes will be accepted.
