[TASK 1: ROUTINE/POSITIVE MESSAGE] Write a brief e-mail message (not more than 300 words) to the editor of the newspaper to correct the economic misinformation. Correct the impression that job growth is occurring throughout the economy and encourage political leaders to address problems that we believe continue to limit growth in other industries, including health care costs, taxation policies in the manufacturing sector and unfair competitive practices from companies in certain other countries. Make up whatever information we need to back up our claims.

Ms. Helen Smith, Editor of New York Times Press Economic misinformation reveals in New York Times date 29th August 2013

Dear Ms. Helen,

Im always read articles in newspaper that publish by your company which is New
York Times Press and trust in what have you team deliver to the public but however, there was a misinformation given on behave of economic information and I hope you can correct it back for the sake of community knowledge. The article that I mention about is on the fact of growing in numbers of job demand and growth of economic which is claim by a political leader. Yes, I do agree that there are growing for the country economy but it is only for the medical sector and not agrees to all sectors as seem to be like that as written in your company article. This is proven in Business Week article. First of all, there are limitation growth in the other industries and sectors. This is happen because of shortage of workers in sectors beside health sector. Government economic policies only benefits to health sector and creates job opportunities only within this sector. Moreover, this policies effect the investment in other sector. The other sectors are lack and shortage of money due to these policies and cannot growth well as general claim by the politicians. Furthermore, in idea to support the health sector, the other sectors are burden with

increasing government taxation. Profit produces get decreases just because of the increasing in tax as well as losing their customers due increasing in product sales price to support tax payment. In addition, focus on health sector means that public must suffer more health-care cost which many of them do not want to, if they know the reality! Last but not least, it is also creates an unfair competitive practices. Due to these policies, only big companies can survive compare to small companies as they get investment due to stereotype that big company produce big profit. It supposes to be a merit-based competitive and not company capacity-based competitive. In addition of that, investment from government reduces since more and more money flow to the health sector only. Moreover, health sector gets more benefits as the government taxation that they need to pay being abolish and this is really unfair and bias towards other sector of economy. That is the true about now day economy status. I hope you can accept my proportion to rewrite the article and correct back community mindset that have been infected by

politicians sweet talk about current economy. Thank you.

[TASK 2: NEGATIVE MESSAGE] Worried those consumers will start buying fewer extended warranties, our boss has directed us to put together a sales training program that help cashiers sell the extended warranties even more aggressively. We are convinced that our company should change its strategy as it does not rely so much on the profits from warranties. In addition, offering questionable value to the customers, they risk creating a consumer backlash that could lead to lower of all our products. We want to voice our concern to our boss in e-mail as he is traveling. Write a brief message (no more than 300 words) explaining why we think the sales training specifically and the warranties in general are both bad ideas.

Mr. Abdul Rahman Bin Abdul Rahim, Sales Manager of Apple Inc. Sales Strategy Concerned Review: Consideration and Reconstruction Plan Dear Mr. Abdul Rahman, Regarding to our current issues faced by our company, I have come out with an idea which is we should change our strategy so that we do not rely too much on profits made from warranties. In my opinion, I do not think that this is a wise move because we would not able to make massive profit from just selling warranties. What we really need to do is we need to focus on the products produced by us and how to promote them to our customers to maximize our returns. Next, I have to clarify something to you so that you will change your mind from making profit by selling warranties. Actually, our customer already know when the products is going to spoil so there is no point for us to use this strategy anymore as they know that there is no coverage for their damaged products after the period of time that provide warranties. Therefore, we should manufacture some high quality products that can be used for a long period so that we would not rely on warranties to make profit as we can gain trust from our customers and they would continue to buy products from us. The next issue I concerned about is the specific sales training program. I strongly go against this idea because this program is a waste of time and money. Would you invest huge amount of money in this training program if it does not generate any profit for our company?

Moreover, our products will be neglected because we just concentrate on the selling of extended warranties .We would not come out with any new idea to improve our products anymore as we believed that we can make profit from the warranties. As a result, the reputation of our company will be affected because of the low standard of our products. I am concerned that our sales will go down year by year onwards if we stick with the strategy. As an assistant sales manager of Apple Inc I suggest that you should consider my idea of improving our sales marketing for the sake of our company future. By that mean, I will end my explanation here and I hope u will take note about what is going on with the company. Best Regards, Michael Simpsons Assistance Sales Manager of Apple Inc.

[TASK 3: PERSUASIVE MESSAGE] Write an e-mail (not more than 300 words) to your boss (Florence); persuading him that freewheeling nature of the blog communication is it key advantage, not a disadvantage at all. While they may not always agree with what he has to say on the blog, but people respect the fact that they have a platform to respond and communicated with the company/brand they consume. Explain the benefits of a business blog to convince him to start a blog.

Ms. Florence Khoo, Sales Manager of Temasik Corp. Way to a Better Communication towards Customers ; Good Idea To Improve The Business Dear Ms. Florence, How are you recently? I hope you in pink of health. I have been researching our choices for business blog. There is a lot of benefit for using blog to provide the business. First, business blogs provide your business with a chance to share your expertise and knowledge with a larger audience. Second, blog software is easy to use. Simply write your thoughts, link to resources, and publish to your blog, all at the push of a few buttons. Updating the weblog is a faster process than contacting a web designer with changes or doing the coding and uploading yourself. Besides that, search engine marketing is hot. The search market has become the Holy Grail of Internet advertising and continues to grow faster than our expectations. We believe search is actually gaining some market share from other types of online marketing. Furthermore, blogging is also low-cost alternative to having a web presence. For business owners without the time to learn web html or the money to hire a designer/developer, blogging offers an inexpensive method to get your company's name out on the Internet. Blogging provides several communication benefits. As indicated by Business Weeks Olga Kharif in Blogging for Business Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban sees blogging as a time saver instead of providing many interviews blogging gets his message out to many people at once.
