ALCATEL-LUCENT 9768 METRO RADIO OUTDOOR

The Alcatel-Lucent 9768 Metro Radio Outdoor (MRO) V1.0 B13 is a next-generation radio based on Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs groundbreaking lightRadio cube that brings together the latest innovations in antennas, ampliers and transceivers to minimize size and improve radio frequency (RF) performance. The 9768 MRO is designed to be deployed as an overlay in areas covered by LTE macro eNodeBs. Macro eNodeBs cover wide geographical areas with moderate subscriber densities; single or multiple 9768 MROs can provide capacity relief in places where large numbers of subscribers congregate, such as stadiums, large enterprises and shopping malls. The Alcatel-Lucent 9768 MRO is small enough to be mounted on a wall, the side of a building or a pole and operates in 3GPP band 13 (upper 700 MHz). It uses directional antennas to cost-effectively extend 5-bar coverage and capacity to both indoor and outdoor locations. The Alcatel-Lucent 9768 operates in 3GPP band 13 (upper 700 MHz).

The Alcatel-Lucent 9768 MRO has two transmit antennas, with 500 mW conducted power at each antenna, and two receive antennas for two-way receive (Rx) diversity. The radio is ideally suited to support dense metro hotspots, with multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) 2x2 operation in up to 10 MHz of bandwidth.

FEATURES
Small, lightweight unit that can be mounted on a wall, the side of a building or pole Integrated directional antenna, enabling higher throughput and lower interference, leading to a higher degree of sectorization and greater power efciency Single Long Term Evolution (LTE) Frequency Division Duplex (FDD) carrier and sector Two-path Rx diversity and 2x2 MIMO enabled by cross-polarization Operates with conventional or clustered BBUs Compatible with the Alcatel-Lucent 9926 Digital 2U NodeB (d2U) Supports CPRI daisy chaining

INNOVATIVE ARCHITECTURE
Based on the distributed eNodeB architecture, the Alcatel-Lucent 9768 MRO integrates a single lightRadio cube and the Remote Radio Head (RRH) functionality into a single compact unit, which connects to an external baseband unit (BBU). The BBU comes in a conventional or clustered conguration and may be located at the same location as the MRO or at a different location. The MRO connects to the BBU through an optical ber, using Common Public Radio Interface (CPRI) and supports CPRI daisy chaining, thereby enabling multiple MROs to connect to the BBU over the same optical cable. This architecture maximizes deployment exibility while optimizing the use of the BBU digital assets and connectivity costs.

BENEFITS
Can be easily deployed in optimal coverage locations with one-man installation High-quality indoor and outdoor coverage Faster, more reliable data connections and higher data throughput Increased spectral efficiency with reduced sensitivity to fading Flexible deployment, coupled with optimized use of the BBU digital assets Reduced costs through leveraging the same BBU resources as the macro network Reduced connectivity costs with multiple MROs sharing the same optical ber backhaul to the BBU Software upgradeable to support additional features in the future, such as LTE-A HetNet
