Remote Lab Description

The remote lab is accessed via http to the following location. http://rlabs1.globalknowledge.ae Login using the credentials provided in the access details email from Remote Lab Support Team. Once logged in, click on the pod icon that you have been assigned to. You will be prompted again for the username/password, use the same credentials you provided during the initial authentication. At this point a new window opens up the lab topology for this lab. You can gain access to the consoles of the different devices in the lab by simply clicking (left Click) the device that you would like to access. Once a device is clicked, a new tab is added to the lab interface which gives access to the clicked device. Access to the console connections is exclusive. If you are unable to access the console of a particular device you can always clear the console lines to that device by selecting Clear line of the device option obtained by right clicking the (tab name)/(device from topology) .

Classroom Requirement
The classroom should be equipped with Laptop/PC per pod with either Windows XP/ Vista/Windows7 and with Internet connection. No other operating system is supported at this moment.
DESCRIPTION Student Laptop/PC (per Pod) Windows XP/ Vista/Windows7 with latest Service Pack Windows RDP Client 6.1 or above Internet Explorer 6.0 or above with ActiveX enabled QTY. 1

Windows 2003 or any Windows 64-bit OS are not supported In case you are behind firewall, please ensure that Ports TCP/80 and TCP/443 are permitted from the classroom to the following remote lab websites. rlabs1.globalknowledge.ae rlabs2.globalknowledge.ae rlabs3.globalknowledge.ae Note: The underlying protocols used in communication with the Remote labs are HTTP (TCP/80) and RDP (TCP/3389). RDP port (3389) is forwarded to port 443 to permit access to Remote Labs from most of the classroom environments behind firewall with stringent policies. The underlying protocol is still RDP but running on port 443 instead of the standard port 3389. If you are behind an application layer firewall, which inspects traffic on layer 7 and looks in to RFC compliance of the protocols, then RDP protocol would not function over port 443. You need to ensure that Application Layer firewalling is disabled for traffic to remote labs.

Lab Exercise Tips

This section provides additional tips/workaround for certain tasks mentioned in the Cisco Lab guide. Please refer to these tips before contacting the remote lab support team.

7.1.

General Guidelines
We have not implemented the IUWNE Remote Labs over the VPN as mentioned in the Lab Guide and access to the devices is through tabbed panels rather than menu. All the PCs required for configuring and testing the devices are present on the remote lab Panel. There isnt any requirement for connecting to the Wireless PC through RDP since its integrated in to our remote lab GUI system. Wireless PC: The Wireless PC will be used for both management and testing out wireless connection. The Wireless PC is equipped with CCX5 Compatible 802.11 a/b/g/n Dual-Band Adapter. RDP access to the Wireless PC is provided though the remote lab topology so all steps mentioned in the Lab guide related to connecting Wireless PC using RDP can be ignored. Console Access to the Wireless Controllers and Access Points: There are multiple hotspots on lab topology diagram which provides console access to the controller and Access Points. All steps mentioned in the Cisco Lab guide about connecting to Terminal Server Router can be ignored. Backbone Switch: The console access to the BB Switch is not provided in the remote lab topology panel but role based telnet access is provided. Delegates can telnet in to the switch from the wireless PC using IP address 10.X0.1.254 and credentials studentX/cisco where X is the pod number. APs are powered using PoE switch so in case delegates wants to power recycle APs, they can do it by logging to switch and execute shut and no shut commands on interfaces where the APs are connected. Initially Both APs are in Light Weight Mode, username/password for login these APs are Cisco/Cisco. Note : RDP Connectivity of the Wireless PC will lose if you enable Cisco
AnyConnect Network Access Manager Filter driver on Remote Lab Mgmt Network Card.
