What you will need:


RED HEART With Love: 1 skein 1601 Lettuce Susan Bates Knitting Needles: 5 mm [US 8] - 16 (40.5 cm) Susan Bates Double Pointed Knitting Needles: 5 mm [US 8] Marker, yarn needle GAUGE: 17 sts = 4 (10 cm); 22 rows = 4 (10 cm) in pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size needles to obtain the gauge.

Special Stitches Bobble (Yo, K1) 3 times in next st, turn; slip 1, P5, turn; slip 1, K5, turn; P2tog 3 times, turn; slip 1, K2tog, insert left needle into second stitch, passing it over the previously worked stitch and off the needle. SSP Slip, slip, purl (Decrease) Slip next 2 stitches as if to knit, insert point of left needle through back of stitches, purl these stitches together (1 stitch decrease).

Crown Shaping Round 1: K1, *P2tog, P3, SSP, K1; repeat from * around to last st, K1: 68 sts. Round 2: K1, (P5, K1) around to last st, K1. Round 3: K1, *P2tog, P1, SSP, K1; repeat from * around to last st, K1: 46 sts. Round 4: K1, (P3, K1) around to last st, K1. Round 5: K1, (P3tog, K1) around to last st, K1: 24 sts. Round 6: K1, K2tog around to last st, K1: 13 sts. Cut yarn leaving a 16 (40.6 cm) end. Thread yarn needle with end and weave through remaining stitches. Draw up firm; fasten securely.

FINISHING

Make one medium size pompom and attach securely to Crown of Hat.

Ribbing Cast on 90 sts. Join, being careful that sts are not twisted, and begin working in the round. Place marker for beginning of round. Round 1 (Right side): Knit around. Round 2: (K1, P1) around. Repeat Round 2 for pattern until piece measures approximately 1 (2.5 cm) from cast on edge.
