Site History: The FMC Corp. Yakima Superfund site, covering approximately four acres in Yakima, Washington, operated as a pesticide formulation facility from 1951 until 1986. From 1952 to 1969, FMC disposed of agricultural pesticides in a "poison pit" on-site. The cleanup included removing contaminated soil and cleaning a warehouse concrete floor so the building could be reused for industrial purposes. Today, the redeveloped site contains a variety of commercial and light industrial businesses.
