(c) Neil borrows Rs.15,000 at 10% pa, interest considered annually. He repays Rs.7,500 at the end of first year and Rs.5000 at the end of second year. (b) The line 2y = 3x + c passes through the point P(3, 4). Find the numerical value of c. Also, find the equation of a line which intersects the given line perpendicularly at P. [3] (c) Use only a pair of compasses and a ruler to answer this question. Draw a circle with centre O and radius 2.8cm. P is any point outside the circle such that OP = 7cm. Construct a tangent from P on to the circle. Measure and record its length. [4]

Q3.(a) Solve the following inequation for x. Represent your solution on a number line. . (b) The figure shows the flooring plan of a temple. ABCD is a square with side 14 m. Its diagonals intersect at O. Arcs AB and CD are arcs of a circle with centre O. The shaded area is to be tiled with marble. Calculate the cost of the marble required at Rs.900 per m2. (c) In the figure alongside, <ABP = <BCP. AB = 3cm, BP = 4cm and BC = 6cm. (i) Calculate the length AC. (ii) If the area of the triangle ABP be x sq. units, find out, without using Heros formula, the area of triangle BPC in terms of x. [4]

Q4. (a) Ruby saves a sum of money every month in her 2-year cumulative deposit scheme account. Upon maturity, she receives Rs.1800 as interest. The rate of simple interest that the bank offers is 12% pa. Calculate the monthly installment that she deposits. [3]

Section B (40 marks) (Answer any four questions from this Section) Q5. (a) A box contains 39 white balls, 21 blue balls, 27 yellow balls and 13 red balls. They are mixed thoroughly. One ball is picked up at random. Find the possibility that the ball is: (i) Either blue or red; (ii) not yellow; (iii) green. [3] (b) A = [ ] and B = [ (i) What is the order of matrix M? (c) A cylinder whose radius is 14cm is partially filled with water. A metal cone with base diameter 10cm and slant height 13cm is placed in the cylinder. It is noticed that the cone is immersed in the water to exactly half its slant height. Calculate the minimum quantity of water, to nearest cm3, required to immerse the cone completely. Q6.(a) In the figure, PT is a tangent to the circle at T. <BTP = 690, and <ABT = 460. AP cuts arc BT at C such that arc length BC = twice arc length CT. Calculate

(b) The line 3x + 2y + 6 = 0 cuts the x-axis at P. (i) Find the coordinates of P. (ii) Calculate the distance PQ where Q is (3, 2). [3] (c) A dealer sells a camera to a consumer for Rs.2592, which is inclusive of 8% V.A.T. (i) Calculate the dealers selling price of the camera without V.A.T. (ii) If the dealers profit is Rs.400, calculate the price including VAT that he pays to his supplier. (iii)Calculate the amount of V.A.T. that the dealer pays to the government. (iv) Calculate the cost price of the supplier if his margin of profit is 25%. [4] Q7.(a) Chetan owns some 12% Rs.100-shares on which he earns a dividend of Rs.24,000. (i) Calculate the number of shares he holds. (ii) He sells these shares at Rs.120 and invests the proceeds (without dividend) in Rs.50shares quoted at a premium of 20%. Consequently his annual dividend increases by Rs.6000. Calculate his yield on his new investment. [3] (b) A baseball ground, ABCD, has the shape of a rhombus. Munna and Munni are on the ground. Munna is running such that he is equidistant from the sides AB and AD while Munni is walking such that she is equidistant from sides AB and CD. Make a sketch of the ground and show the loci of the two children. Is there any possibility of Munna and Munni crossing each other? If so, indicate the location on the sketch by a point P. (A free-hand sketch may be drawn.) [3] (c) Sushma, standing on the ground, observes that the angle of elevation, , to a plane flying in the sky is such that tan = . Eighteen seconds later, the angle of elevation has changed to such that sin = 5/13. The altitude of the plane which is flying away from her is uniform at 1200m. Calculate the speed of the plane in km/hr. [4] Q8.(a) A is the point (3, 1). B is the image of B(5, 1) in y = 1. C and D are the respective images of B and A in x = 1. Write down the coordinates of B, C and D. On a graph paper, plot the points A, B, B, C and D. Give the precise geometrical name to the quadrilateral ABCD. [3] (b) Ronnie commutes by car from Rajkot to Anand by-passing Ahmadabad, a distance of 240km. Tony goes from Rajkot to Anand via Ahmadabad, a distance of 270 km. Tonys car runs 3 km per litre more than does Ronnies car. Petrol consumed by Ronnies car is one litre more than that consumed by Tonys car. Calculate the quantity of petrol (in litres) consumed by each car. [3]

(c) When f(x) = x3 2px2 + 11x 11 is divided by (x 3), it leaves the same remainder as the one obtained when g(x) = px3 + 9x2 + x 15 is divided by (x + 2). Find the numerical value of p. Hence, find the integer that must be added to the expression f(x) so that (x 3) becomes a factor of the resulting expression. Factorise the resulting expression. [4]
