ABSTRACT OF M-Tech. THESIS TITLED STUDIES ON HIGH STRENGTH CONCRETE USING RICE HUSK ASH AS AN ADMIXTURE (N.R.

Dakshina Murthy- 1997). Experimental investigations were carried out to manufacture high strength concrete upto 90N/mm2. The materials used in the investigations are ordinary Portland cement of 43 grade, 25 mm maximum size coarse aggregate, fine aggregates from local deposits. Apart from this rice husk ash of 16000 Cm2/grm fineness is used as an admixture and conplast SP 337 is used as Superplasticizer. The water cement ratios used are 0.301 to 0.214. The flakiness index and elongation index are made zero. The maximum compressive strength without using any special manufacturing procedures is observed to be 88 N/mm2 under aniaxial compression with rice husk ash as an admixture.

The addition of rice husk ash to an extent of 10% has contributed to the improvement in the compressive strength. The maximum percentage of super

plasticizer added is 3.75% without any adverse effects. An equation is proposed for compressive strength v/s water cement ratio.
