A smartphone is a high-end mobile phone.a smartphone combines the functions of a portable media players and camera phones with high resolution touch screen.IBM simon introduced in 1992 but it released to the public in 1993. Symbian: Symbian phone was introduced in 2000. It was first device to use an open operating system. Windows and blackberry: In 2001 microsoft announced it windos.in 2002 RIM released the first blackberry Iphone: In 2007 apple introduced its first iphone. Android: The android operating system for smartphone was released in 2008.

Introduction:
Smartphones runs a mobile operating system.ex: apple,google,android,Microsoft windows phone 7,nokia. Gps navigation wi-fi and mobile broadband access .the term smartphone is usually used to describe phones with more advance computing ability and connectivity than contemporary feature phone.demand for advanced mobile devices have powerfull processor and graphics

processing unit ,memory.high resolution screens with multi touch capability.the rate of smartphone adoption is accelerating of march 2011 22% .with these percentage rising to 31% amongst 24-35 years old. the first smartphone was the IBM SIMON .besides being a mobile phone it also contained calendar ,address book,world clock,calculator,note pad,email,client, the ability to send and receive faxes and games.text was entered with a unique on screen predictive keyword.

NOKIA:
Nokia communicator line was the first of nokias smartphone.starting with the nokia 9000 released in 1996.feautering email communication and text based web browsing .

SYMBIAN:
It was the first device marketed as a smartphone.it combines function of mobile phone and personal digital assistant .in December 1999 the magazine popular science appointed the smartphone to one of the most important advances in science and technology.it was a small and light as normal mobile phone.in 2002 it was released first camera smartphone. Also in 2000 nokia 9210 communicator was introduced which was the first color screen model.from the above nokia communicator line.9500 communicator which also was nokias first camera phone and first wifi phone.the 9300 communicator was the third dimesnsional shift into a smaller form factor. In 2007 nokia launch the nokia N95 which integrated the wide range of multimedia features into a consumer oriented smartphones.5 megapixel camera with auto focus and led flash ,3G and wifi connectivity and tv-out.

WINDOWS AND BLACKBERRY:

This device combined the features of a personal digital assistant with a wireless phone that operated on the wireless network.for ex a user could select a name from the pda contact list and the device would dial that contacts phone numbers.in February 2011 nokia announced a plan to

make Microsoft windows phone 7 with high-end smartphone operating system.reducing to a research platform.

IPHONE:
In 2007 Apple introduces its first iphone.it was one of the first mobile phone to be mainly controlled by a touch screen.it was the first mobile phone to use as multitouch interface.Steve Jobs publicly started that the iphone lacked 3g support due to the immatuarity,power use and physical size requirements of 3g chipsets at the time. Apple introduced it second generation iphone with lower list price starting at $199 and 3g support.the app store iphone has been a huge success.in june of 2010 apple introduced ios 4.and following the handsets.

ANDROID:
The first phone to use android was the htc dream.the software sight included on the phone consists of intergration with googles property applications such as maps calendars and gmail and full html web browser ,third party apps are available via the android market including both free and paid apps. Smartphone sales increase in 2010 by 72.1% from the previous years.whereas sales for all mobile phones only increase by 31.8%. in 2011 google android market share was 35% and increased significantly from 10% lost year while nokia symbian dropped to 26% from 46% last year.
