Charisma Opal Easy-to-Achieve Beauty

Charisma Opal is the new universal light-curing submicronhybrid composite. Its filler technology is based on X-ray opaque Microglass and highly dispersive silicon dioxide. This does not only provide Charisma Opal with pronounced chameleon effects but also with high radio-opacity. Indications: Fillings of the classes I-V according to Black Shape and shade corrections of teeth (i.e. diastema closure) Splinting of teeth loosened by trauma or periodontal disease Restorations of primary teeth Temporary repairs of porcelain and composite (in combination with an adequate repair-system) Direct composite veneers Core build-up The 2-Layer Shade Guide Wrong shade matching is one of the most common reasons to renew restorations; Charisma Opal has a 2-Layer shade guide which is hand-layered and made of original material to determine the right color for a filling. Shade matching has never been this easy and accurate!

1 Select the right shades.

Prepare a silicone index based on the original tooth.

Prepare the Class IV cavity nished in a bevel.

Select the right shades.

Prepare a silicone index based on the original tooth (see Case 1). Margins should end in a chamfer. Conditioning of enamel and dentine as described in Case 1.

Create the palatinal enamel layer with a transparent material (CO Clear Opal).

Charisma Opals intrinsic characteristics reproduce the tooth color of the patients surrounding dental substance taking opalescence, fluorescence, and translucent effects into account. There is no need to invest a lot of time to achieve high aesthetics any more Charisma Opal does it for you!

Charisma Opal Proven Performance and Properties

According to research groups worldwide, Charisma Opal covers all demands of a universal composite system as it combines great aesthetics and polishability with equilibrated physical properties.

Use a bonding system (e.g. iBOND Self Etch without separate etching or GLUMA Comfort Bond + Desensitizer with prior etching) to condition enamel and dentine according to the instructions for use.

Create the palatinal layer. Place a translucent composite material (CO Clear Opal) into the silicone index.

Place the silicone index with composite onto the tooth and smooth the contact areas. The composite is polymerised for 20 seconds.

Place the silicone index with composite onto the tooth and smooth the contact areas. Each increment is polymerised.

Model an opaque dentine core. It should be constructed in two parts: from dark (marginal, e.g. OD Opaque Dark) to light (incisal, e.g. OM Opaque Medium). Each individual increment should be polymerized for 20 40 seconds.

To get a natural look, create some mammelons. Light cure after applying every layer.

Create a dentine core (e.g. with OM Opaque Medium). If natural tooth shows highly translucent incisal edge, place a thin layer of CO Clear Opal in this area. Light cure after applying every layer.

Create the facial enamel layer (e.g. with A2) light curing afterwards. Once nished, continue with the polishing of the restoration.

Place a translucent composite (CO Clear Opal) between the mammelons to copy the structure of the natural tooth. Polymerise.

Place the enamel masses on the facial surface enamel. Graduate colours can be created with two or three enamel colours (darkest colour cervical, lightest colour incisal e.g. A3.5, A3, A2). Each increment is polymerised.

Place transparent composite material (CO Clear Opal) for the last layer to create the vestibular enamel layer.

A brush can be used to smoothen the vestibular surface or to create the typical vertical grooves. Light cure afterwards. Once nished, continue with the polishing of the restoration.
