CCA: Concert Band

RECRUITS Sec 1 Orientation CCA orientation programe. To get to know the current band members and teachers in charge To recruit members, prepare and plan for SYF 2015. Sec 1 selection of CCA Introduction to the Concert Band. Assigning of instruments to recruits. Introduction to sound production; buzzing, embouchure and percussion stroking. Basic Music Theory (1) Official issuing of instruments to recruits. Instrumental workshop to start the students in the correct way of playing the instrument. Basic tone, sound production, buzzing, posture. Basic Percussion Strokes. Basic music theory (2) Reinforce theory on Rhythm Concept of pitching. Introduction to specific instruments. Parts of an instrument and instrumental maintenance. Breathing exercises. Rhythm exercises. Basic music theory (3)

Stationary drills if time permits. Technical studies Sectional practices for Speech Day parade and concert

Reinforce basic drill. Preparation for recruits welcome party

Producing notes of up to 4 counts. Breathing & rhythm exercises. Basic music theory (4) Section performance on short piece that they have learnt in the previous weeks. Long notes up to 8 counts.
