TRAFFIX (Thermoplastic Pavement Marking Material)

TRAFFIX - Thermoplastic road marking material is the result of years of research and hard work by the KATALINE laboratory. The product is made up of selective use of plasticisized binders, reflective glass beads, extenders and pigments. GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF KATALINE TRAFFIX High durability: Compared to normal road paints, thermoplastic is hard wearing and is highly durable under all weather all traffic conditions. Its average life span is two to three years under normal traffic condition. Excellent adhesion: The selective combination of high grade raw materials with the hot applied method of the material provides an extremely strong bond between the material and the road surface substrate Good Day and Night Visibility : An intermix of high quality reflective glass beads provides continuous Retro reflectivity throughout the life span of the material. For immediate effect, high Retro reflective drop-on beads are recommended at the rate of 250 gm/sq.m. High skid resistance: Aggregate material of selectedsizes are used in the product mixture and tested thoroughly to provide maximum required skid resistance for better road safety.

Fast Drying Time: The product dries within three minutes and traffic may be released in 10 minutes after line marking operation. High Softening Point: A good chemical formulation combined with years of Research and Development has yielded a product of exceptional stability against the effects of UV rays and harsh tropical climate conditions. APPLICATION METHODS & TEMPERATURE SCREED EXTRUSION SPRAY TRAFFIX- MDL TRAFFIX - MDL is a specially prepared thermoplastic material to be used for producing profiles on the line. Profiled markings include the ribbed line or the Multi Dot Line systems. The advantage of this type of system is the improved night time visibility on wet nights and also it provides audible signal to the driver as the vehicle passes over it. 1800 C to 2000 C 0 0 180 C to 200 C 0 0 200 C to 220 C

TRAKMARK - WR (Waterborne Road Marking Paint)

Description A versatile, fast drying, solvent-free acrylic emulsion line marking paint. It is environment friendly as it is based on a acrylic resin system. The paint confirms to I.S. 164 specifications. REFLECTOMARK (Reflective Coating)

REFLECTOMARK, Reflective coating system, is an exterior durable coating that is highly, visible at night from behind a light source such as a vehicle's headlamps. Reflectomark has numerous visibility and safety uses. The coating can be applied to complex contours and rough surfaces. It is more versatile and less expensive than adhesive backed

retro-reflective sheeting. This is a convenient, low cost surface treatment which can be painted on the surface of the various type of facilities such as central separator, barricade, bridge and roadside curve sign needed to be reflective.

METHODOLOGY FOR APPLICATION OF THERMOPLASTIC ROAD MARKING MATERIAL


SCOPE: This methodology is applicable for line marking on asphalt & concrete surface by using Thermoplastic Road Marking Material using Thermoplastic Road Marking Equipment with attachment of Glass Bead Dispenser to spray Glass Beads. MATERIAL: Thermoplastic Road Marking Material : "TRAFFIX" Kataline Make as per M.O.R.T.H. Specifiacation Glass Beads : Potters / Swarco as per BS 6088 Class B Primer : CPX 10 of Kataline Make for concrete surface. MACHINE: The work will be carried out by using or Thermoplastic applicator machine. Pre-meltors for preparation of material will also be used to speed up the work and provide uniform pre-heating of the material, if necessary. The equipment used to lay hot applied thermoplastic material will be able to provide continuous uniform heating to temperatures of upto 200C, mixing and agitation of the material. PREPARATION OF MATERIAL: Thermoplastic powder is put into the container of machine and it is heated. The material is mixed uniformly by operating the mechanical agitator in the container. The thermostat is adjusted to a temperature of 180-200 degree centigrade. The material is added to the container to its full capacity and melted till it achieves smooth consistency. The molten material will be transferred from the Pre-meltor to the applicator's container and the temperature of the material is maintained between 180-200 degree centigrade. The molten material will be used expeditiously. APPLICATION: 1. The Thermoplastic road marking will be executed by using Thermoplastic applicator. 2. The thermoplastic material will be applied hot by Screeding process. 3. All surfaces to be marked will be thoroughly cleaned of all dust, dirt, grease, oil and all other foreign material before application of the marking. 4. The lines through which the marking is to be done will be premarked by using distemper or any other pre-marking material. 5. The relevant size of screed box will be fixed to the applicator for laying Lines. 6. The glass beads for super imposition on the markings will also be put into its container and settings to be adjusted at 250 grams per sqm. The glass beads applied to the surface of the complete stripe shall be applied by a bead dispenser operating on gravity or and mechanical means.. 7. The molten material will be allowed to pass into the screed box of the desired size (10 cms, 15 cms etc.). The screed box unit will also be heated using the built in heaters. 8. The machine will be driven through the pre-marked line and the screed box is opened which will allow the material to flow to the surface and lay a uniform film of 2.5mm thick of thermoplastic material. 9. Traffic Cones, Safety Jackets will be provided to divert the traffic from the main carriageway to the next lane / road to save the marking from the moving vehicular traffic. After the 30 - 60 min. of drying, road can be opened to traffic. 10. For working on Portland Cement Concrete surface, a sealing primer CPX-10 from Kataline Infraproducts Pvt. Ltd. shall be applied to the pavement in advance of placing of the strips to ensure proper bonding of the compound. The primer will be brush / spray machine applied @ 4-5 sqm per ltr. 11. For marking of pedestrian crossings, directional arrows, chevrons etc. only manual applicator is used with 50 cms screed box and stencil wherever ecessary. 12. A team of well-trained staff would be executing the work strictly as per IRC-35 and MORTH specifications.

TRAKMARK-WR METHODOLOGY FOR APPLICATION OF WATER BASED RUNWAY MARKING PAINT


Scope: This methodology is applicable for line marking of asphalt pavement using water based Paint using self propelled semi automatic Airless spraying machine with the attachment to spray glass beads, to the lines, shapes, colors and dimensions shown in the approved drawings. Material: The paint shall be homogenous, easily stirred to smooth consistency, and shall show no hard Settlement or lumps of material. I)Water based road-marking paint TRAKMARK -WR of "Kataline Infraproducts Pvt. Ltd." II)Drop on Glass Beads Potters / Swarco. Equipment: Graco Line Lazar 5900 with Glass Beads Dispenser. Preparation of Paint: 1. Open the drum and stir it well. 2. Add required quantity of water in the paint to achieve a proper viscosity. 3. After the paint is prepared, filter the paint from the filler cloth before putting the paint in the machine tank. 4. Check the shade of the finally prepared paint with the shade card before starting the work. Preparation Of Airless Road lines Machine For Application: 1. 2. 3. 4. Start the engine of machine. Start the pump and clean the filter with clear water. Remove the water from the hosepipe of the earlier days work. Start the display or the computer fitted on the machine. Mark the borders of markings to the dimensions and shapes given in drawing using white chalk or the same paint, which wl be used for pavement marking. Cean the internal area of marking using air jet or lowers. Provide 100-200mm wide Aluminium Channel all around the borders or any other suitable method to avoid splash of paint from nozzles or wind. In case of arro arkings use pre-fabricated stencils to paint arrowheads as per the dimension shown in drawing Check the thickness of point spray on the metal panel by use of alko meter before the actual start of work. Adjust the height of nozzle from ground by a mock-up to achieve a continuous, uniform and streak free Using self-propelled semi automatic Airless spraying machine, paint the pavement marking in 2 layers to achieve a minimum thickness of 400 microns (WFT) The wet paint film thickness shall be maintained as 400 Microns and the rate of spray of paint in Sq.M Ltr shall be determined after the field trials. The glass beads shall be sprayed onto the painted@ the surface simultaneously during the paint application work. The glass beads shall be sprayed 250/gm/Sq.M on the second layer. To monitor the above, maintain a log showing daily paint consumption and area covered. Continue marking further. Allow the paint to dry, not less than 20-30miutes. Remove the Aluminium channel. Areas where painting cannot be done by machine use brush to paint by Hand to get the required finish. Remain and protect the white crosses provided at the either ends of Runway until it's opening for use. Cose the painted area by suitable barricade until it's opening for use. Safety Requirements: Proper area lighting shall be provided if night work is carried out. Flagman shall be provided at all exit points of the trucks / tippers. All tippers / Tankers shall be provided with reverse horns. The speed of vehicles plying in the work area shall be restricted to 40kMpH maximum. Check for the working condition of safety valves of air compressors, if compressed air is being used. Provide guards to the moving parts of equipment. Hand gloves / Face shield shall be worn while painting.

5. Adjust the pressure on display and also the desired micron size or thickness of the paint to be applied. 6. Put the paint tank on the machine and start the application work. Procedure: 1. Check the pavement surface moisture visually, if available do not start the job. 2. Barricade the entire area of the day's work to prevent the entry of vehicle other than the equipment for marking. 3. Clean the entire surface using a combination of mechanicalbroom and air jet to prevent the flying dust/dirt gets deposited on the freshly laid paint. 4. Clean and surface deposits such as laitance, soilor other granular materials using scrapers or wire brushes and then suing air jet. 5. Take reference points by Surveyor (Theodolite) for the correct location of markings.
