HP 3PAR NinjaVirtual Storage Assessment Software

HP 3PAR NinjaVirtual is a sales tool that enables you to assess a customers current virtualization environment and determine whether or not they are a candidate for the HP 3PAR Get Virtual Guarantee (GVG) Program. The GVG program guarantees qualified customers a minimum 2x increase in their existing virtual machine (VM) density by replacing traditional, legacy storage in their existing vSphere environment with HP 3PAR Storage. NinjaVirtual is a simple-to-use tool that enables you to get an accurate snapshot of the customers virtualization data by performing an autonomic assessment of their current virtualization environment. Its designed to support the Get Virtual Guarantee Program and also help you: Collect key virtualization performance indicators (CPU, Memory & Disk) Collect storage utilization statistics (Block & NAS) Interpret collected data to determine if qualification criteria are met Generate comprehensive customer reports (PDF or MS Word) Upon completion, assessment reports can be saved or emailed to your regional HP contact or business unit for review.

Will I have to install an agent and will it require a reboot? No, NinjaVirtual is an agent less standalone tool designed to run from a USB key. No installation or reboot is required.

Can it be installed remotely? Yes. The tool consists of five binary files that can easily be distributed electronically. The tool also supports automatic update when new versions are available. Will it add overhead? No, NinjaVirtual is a lightweight tool. The execution overhead is marginal on the monitored servers. It does not require high network bandwidth and can run over DSL/VPN. What permissions does it require? User account must have vCenter browse privilege What network ports does it use? NinjaVirtual uses port 443 (HTTPS) to communicate with vCenter Will it access my confidential data? No. NinjaVirtual only reads filesystem, device utilization and performance data using standard vSphere APIs. There is no access to files, VM and folders content. Why do you need to change vCenter historical log level? Get Virtual Guarantee assessment requires access to Disk performance metrics that are not normally available with the default vCenter Log Level setting (1). When the assessment is complete, NinjaVirtual or vCenter Client can be used to easily reset the historical Log Level to default.
