The Saiyan Transformations

SAIYAN HISTORY IN JAPANESE , "JIN" MEANS PEOPLE ; SO THAT MEANS THAT SAIYA-JIN ARE "SAIYA PEOPLE ". THEIR SOLE PURPOSE IN LIFE WAS TO FIGHT AND SURVIVE . AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DRAGONBALLZ SERIES , WE LEARN THAT THEY LIVED ON PLANET PLANT. T HEY SHARED THIS PLANET WITH A RACE CALLED T SUFURU . T HE T SUFURU WERE AN ADVANCED RACE WITH MANY CITIES AND HIGHLY -ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY . T HEIR TECHNOLOGY ALLOWED THEM TO FIGHT AGAINST THE NATURALLY STRONG SAIYANS . O NE NIGHT ON THE FULL MOON, ALL THE SAIYANS WHO HAD BEEN EXPOSED TO THE LIGHT OF THE FULL MOON , UNDERWENT THE CHANGE INTO O OZARU (G IANT APE ) AND EASILY CRUSHED THE TSUFURUS OUT OF EXISTENCE . FROM THEN ON THE PLANET WAS CALLED PLANET VEGETA. T HE SAIYANS USED SOME OF THE TSUFURU TECHNOLOGY TO BECOME THE STRONGEST RACE IN THE UNIVERSE . T HE STRONGEST BEING IN THE UNIVERSE , FRIEZA, AN EVIL CREATURE , USED THE SAIYANS AS MERCENARIES TO TAKE OVER PLANETS FOR HIM AND SELL THEM . O NE DAY , THE SAIYANS GOT TIRED OF WORKING FOR F RIEZA, SO THE KING , KING VEGETA, REVOLTED WITH SEVERAL OF HIS LOYAL MEN . UNFORTUNATELY , HE WAS KILLED ALONG WITH HIS MEN . FRIEZA THEN DESTROYED PLANET VEGETA IN ONE GIANT BLAST, ALONG WITH ALMOST THE ENTIRE SAIYAN RACE . T HE ONLY SURVIVERS WERE KAKAROTTO (G OKU), PRINCE VEGETA, RADDITZ , NAPPA, T AURUS , PARAGUS AND B ROLLI .

Regular Saiyan (SJ) - All full-blooded Saiyans share several common features: All are born with the hairstyle they keep throughout life all are very strong and muscular and they all have a tail. The tail is a weakness for weaker Saiyans, as any pressure applied to it is temporally paralyzing, but Saiyans who have strengthened their tail, are not affected at all by this. The tail is also necessary for the transformation to the Oozaru state. Also all Saiyans have a strong love to fight, which can sometimes be a weakness.

Oozaru (Big Ape) - When any Saiyan with a tail is exposed to the light of a full moon, this sets off a chain reaction from a gland in their tails and causes them to transform into a giant ape (Oozaru is Japanese for "Big Monkey"). This causes the Saiyan's power to be multiplied by 10. With training, this form can be controlled but Goku and Gohan were never trained this way so they went out of control and destroyed all in their way. Achieved By: Goku, Gohan and Vegeta

Kaio-ken (KoK) - This is a fighting technique created by King Kai; however, Goku is the only person ever able to use it successfully. It is a technique that multiplies the users ki for a heart beat enabling them to inflict serious damage to opponents who are considerably stronger than them. Achieved By: Goku

False Super Saiyan (FSSJ) - This is a mid-point between a Saiyan's regular from, and Super Saiyan. Goku reached this form in DBZ Movie #4, when he was really mad at Lord Slug. This is where the Saiyan can almost become a Super Saiyan, but is lacking one or two things. Achieved By: Goku

Super Saiyan (SSJ) - Going Super Saiyan gives the Saiyan a huge power boost along with golden hair and green eyes. The first person we see reach SSJ in the series is Goku when fighting Frieza. The transformation is triggered when someone of pure heart (Good or Bad) experiences extreme emotion, this takes over and allows the change. With training, afterwards the transformation is controlled and happens at will. Achieved By: Broly, Goku, Vegeta, Bardock, Future Trunks, Trunks, Future Gohan, Gohan , Goten, Goku Junior, Vegeta Junior, Vegito and Gogeta

Genki-dama Power Super Saiyan (GPSSJ) - The form Goku used at the end of DBZ movie 7 against Super Android 13. Goku absorbs a Genki-dama powering him up. No visual difference over the regular SSJ form. Achieved By: Goku

Ascended Super Saiyan (ASSJ) - Known as super saiyan 2nd stage, this form is a much more powerful version of Super Saiyan, however, like USSJ, there is a slight muscle mass increase, which reduces speed. This is the form Vegeta uses for the fight with Cell, as the speed decrease is not as much as USSJ but also not as much of a strength increase. We also see Goku in this form when he is training in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with Gohan. Achieved By: Goku, Vegeta and Future Trunks

Ultra Super Saiyan (USSJ) - Known as super saiyan 3rd stage, this is a midpoint between SSJ and SSJ2. At this stage a Saiyan's muscle mass dramatically increases, but they take a big hit in their speed. Goku demonstrated this to Gohan, during the Cell Game Saga inside the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Vegeta also noticed this disadvantage during his training. Trunks however failed to spot this, and this led to his defeat by the weaker, but much faster Cell. Achieved By: Goku, Vegeta and Future Trunks

Mastered or Full-Power Super Saiyan (MSSJ or FPSSJ) - During the training time before the Cell Games , Goku comes up with an idea. He wanted himself and Gohan to try and remain as Super Saiyans for as long as they could, and so get their bodies used to the form. The result is that the Saiyan can stay in the form for long periods of time with little or no effort. It is mastery of the Super Saiyan form. Achieved By: Goku and Gohan

Restricted Super Saiyan (RSSJ) - It is Brolys super saiyan form suppressed by a headband that keeps his power from going out of control. Achieved By: Broly

Non-Restricted Super Saiyan (NRSSJ) - It is Brolys super saiyan form without the headband that keeps his power from going out of control. Achieved By: Broly

Super Saiyan 2 (SSJ 2) - This stage is very similar to SSJ (in appearance), the only differences being lightning bolts that surround the Saiyan and having slightly longer and stiffer hair. In this form power and speed are both increased over SSJ. This form was first achieved by Gohan whilst battling Cell, and is too triggered by extreme emotion. Achieved By: Gohan, Goku, Vegeta and Vegetto

Majin Super Saiyan (MaSSJ) - The wizard Babidi changed Vegeta into Majin Vegeta using his powers, thus adding a great deal to Vegetas power (awaking his true potential) and transforming him into Super Saiyan 2. Achieved By: Vegeta

Legendary Super Saiyan (LSSJ) - This is Brolys full super saiyan form also called the legendary or the true super saiyan form. Brolys exceptional gift branded him as the first LSSJ in approximately 1000 years. Achieved By: Broly

Super Saiyan 3 (SSJ 3) - This form is the strongest of all Saiyan forms in the Manga. Only Goku and the fused body of Gotenks can handle it. It is characterized by very long, full hair and the Saiyan's eyebrows disappearing. Goku achieves this form whilst training in Heaven in between the Cell and Buu Sagas. This forms increases power and speed even more, but also uses a lot of power, so it cannot be maintained for very long. Achieved By: Goku and Gotenks

Mystic Saiyan (MSJ) - This form is achieved by Gohan after his power up from Old Kai. During this state his power is fully maximized. So much so that he does not need to ever go Super Saiyan to increase his power. It looks exactly the same as his normal state, as you can see from the picture. If the Old Kai had finished the power up Gohan would have been stronger than SSJ3 Goku, but he never finishes because he is too lazy. Achieved By: Gohan

Great Super Saiyan (GSSJ) - In the new film Battle Of Gods, Vegeta surpasses Goku, when Bill hits Bulma, and turns into what clarifies Goku, at a later time, as a Great Super Saiyan. At that moment Vegeta surpasses Gokus Super Saiyan 3 form. Achieved By: Vegeta

Golden Oozaru (Golden Big Ape) - This is very similar to the regular Oozaru form except the fur is golden not brown. It is also of course much stronger. To reach this stage a Saiyan must have a tail and receive more waves than usual from the moon. Once the Saiyan controls the massive power of this from, they transform into Super Saiyan 4. Achieved By: Goku, Vegeta, and Baby Vegeta

Super Saiyan 4 (SSJ 4) - This is a form that causes some controversy, since it doesn't appear in the Manga some people say that it isn't a true form, but I am going to agree with the common consensus and say it is. In this form the hair stays black and becomes long, but shorter than SSJ3 and red fur covers most of the upper body, the eyes turn yellow with red outlines and red eyelids. Goku is the only true person to reach this form, but Bulma creates a device that allows Vegeta to reach it as well. Achieved By: Goku, Vegeta and Gogeta

Fake Super Saiyan God (FSSJG) - This is the orginal concept of Super Saiyan God. It was then revoked by Toriyama who wanted Super Saiyan God Goku to look like his normal form, well not very muscular. Achieved By: Goku

L : Time Limit

Super Saiyan God (SSJG) - The Super Saiyan God is the legend among legends of the warrior race, the Saiyans, the mightiest beings in the universe. The power of six good-hearted Saiyans must be infused for one of them to achieve the legendary form. The power of this form is great enough to allow Goku to fight on par with the God of Destruction Bills. This form allows the user to sense godly ki, and they can absorb attacks by consuming ki. As powerful as it is, however, it also has drawbacks: the form drains the users energy reserves fairly quickly, thus involving a time limit, although Bills speculates that this could be overcome and become quite formidable.
