XBOXHDM2 A QUICK USERS GUIDE

Wecome to ths quck 'how-to' gude for runnng dotsfan's xboxhdm2 (USB) too. I assume you are an
advanced user and that you are aready famar wth xboxhdm. XBoxhdm2 (USB) offers superor performance
and fexbty compared to xboxhdm (CD based). Once you get the hang of ths, you w not ook back.

Pease note the command to use the too propery shoud be xboxhd2 n step 5 and 7 of the orgna post.
Make sure you are usng the atest bud (xboxhdm2.1 Beta 1) whch ncudes toos21.zm (fxes path ssues).

Ths too can un/ock your XBOX drve (many as ong as you have the eeprom). Beware that ocked drves w
very key take >10minutes to boot. I assume that your hard drve s on the prmary IDE channe (hda).
1. Getting started (finding your mount point):
Boot the USB stck and seect boot to RAM at the Sax ogn screen (No 1). You w see the foowng screen.
Doube cck the system con (underneath the home con eft off screen).
Now doube cck the storage meda con:

Now hover the mouse ponter over the BOOTUSB con & note your mount pont n the attrbutes that w pop
up (for exampe - /mnt/sdb1). Ths s mportant - so pease remember t! You w need t ater.
2. Getting xboxhd2 to boot and run.
Lets get the Konsoe runnng - cck the con shaped ke a montor on the bottom eft too bar.
Once the Konsoe pops up - type n xboxhd2 - press return. You w be prompted to enter your mount pont.
Type n (for exampe) '/mnt/sdb1' (wthout the quote marks). Press return and type yes to contnue.

There are 2 man choces now - Run the xboxhdm too or ock your drve. The man choce here usuay w be
No 1 (f your hard drve s prmary master). So type 1 & press return & answer yes to the foowng warnng -
as we are sure we want to use the prmary master.
Begnnng to ook famar? Seect No 1 to run dots xboxhdm too but n an emuated form under Oemu.
After seectng No1 and notng the standard warnngs (that you w be famar wth n your experence on
xboxhdm) you w see the famar man xboxhdm screen. Be aware that sections (c!oning) and " (#$%
functions) do not wor&. Now go ahead & easy rebud your Xbox hard drve.

Ths can be acheved n 2 ways but ether way w requre you to reca your mount pont. Frsty open a
Konsoe (see secton 2). Type n (wthout the quotes) 'ockhd -a /dev/hda' and press return. Note the warnng
and seect No 1.
You are now beng asked to type n the path to your eeprom. If you have foowed dotsfan's nstructons, your
eeprom w be ocated n a foder on the root of your USB drve. Therefore type n your mount pont and the
ocaton of your eeprom. For exampe (wthout the quotes) '/mnt/sdb1/eeprom' and press return.
If successfu, an nfo screen nfo w appear. Type 'y' (wthout the quotes) and press return to ock your drve.
If a goes we, you w see a smar screen appear. We done - you have ocked your Xbox drve.
The other way to ock the drve s to foow the nstructons at the start of Secton 2 (Gettng xboxhd2 to
boot..) - pause at ths screen and ook at numbers 5- 8:
Be seectng the approprate hard drve sot (usuay Prmary Master) t w take you through the exact same
ockng steps that we have |ust gone through. You w st get the same ockng resut.

Start a consoe and Type n (wthout the quotes) 'unockhd -a /dev/hda' and press return. Note the warnng
and seect No 1.
Once agan, you are beng asked to type n the path to your eeprom. Type n your mount pont and the
ocaton of your eeprom. For exampe (wthout the quotes) '/mnt/sdb1/eeprom' and press return.
Pease note - there s no warnng for you to confrm whether or not you want to unock. Once you ssue the
command, t unocks automatcay. If a goes we, you w see a smar screen appear.
We done - you have unocked your Xbox drve.
