Frank Lloyd Wright

The fascinating Frank Lloyd Wright made a big impact on the idea of building houses using math and showed that geometrical figures can be used to create anything. The American Institute of Architects called Frank Lloyd Wright the Greatest American Architect of All Time, after building over one thousand buildings all over the world. One of his most famous pieces, Falling Water, is a beautiful house, and it ties into geometry and fits in with nature. How does this beautiful house relate to geometry? Every corner, side, and face all create one thing. Polygons. These Perpendicular, Parallel and Intersecting lines all create shapes. They create obtuse angles, acute angles, and right angles. Frank also used circles and semi circles so he could let the trees flow through and fit into the house. Falling Water is a magnificent house that Wright built for his beloved client, Edgar Kaufmann and his family. It was designed between 1936 and 1939. As soon as it was built, it instantly became a historical landmark. The reason why it is so famous is because it is breaking the rules of physics. It doesnt even stand on solid ground and half of it is over a waterfall. It captured everyones imagination and soon enough, it was in the newspaper. The architectural design makes the house seem hidden but beautiful. When closer to the house, you will see that it is much bigger than it seems. Frank Lloyd Wright incorporated every single detail of both the environment and the perfect dimensions into this house: Like the sound of the waterfall, the blossoming boulders surrounding the house, and the magnificent creatures protecting the vessel. People wonder how Wright thought of this brilliant idea. There are only four materials that Wright used in his house: Sandstone, reinforced concrete, steel and glass. These four materials made the house simple and extravagant at the same time. He made the main color of the house a pale ochre color because it is the same color as the back of a rhododendron leaf. The beautiful house, Falling Water is so fascinating. How does it fit in with Geometry? First of all, this house creates innovative polygons that are different sizes and shapes. This house stretches over a 30-foot long waterfall and is now a historical landmark. Frank Lloyd Wright is one of the most talented architects on this planet, and his architecture amazes many people. He is a role model to many and he is original and creative. One of his famous quotes says, study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you. - Frank Lloyd Wright. This quote strongly supports my statement because it is showing that Frank Lloyd Wright, the king of architecture, incorporates nature into his architecture and he obviously considers this one of the most important parts of

his architecture.
