Programs Objective Process

InDesign/ Illustrator/ Photoshop

Your employer wants you to design a full-color, folding brochure to help promote a fashion show.

I started by splitting the page in four sections. The first section is just a small section for the little space for the skirt that is hanging out on the side. I wanted to portray the setting of a fabulous New York City, which is why I have black, white and red colors and New York City lights picture in the back. I removed the background of the pictures of the model in Photoshop. I duplicated her the girl in the glittery dress three times so that it looks like she is moving. I lowered the opacity of the girls in the back. Then I added a red ribbon picture in the background in the inside of the brochure. I created the logo in Illustrator. I used the pen tool to make the NY and typed the letter C. I also added some lines along the letters. At last I put the texts on the brochure and text wrapped them around the two models.

I also made lines with the colors of the eye and then i used the convert tool to make the lines curvy and flowy. I also made the opacity about 70%.After designing my logo, i went over to InDesign and created the rest of my business card. For the back of my business card i made a black rectangle which was 3.52 inches and put my information and the curvy lines on the rectangle.

Process
To make my NZ I used a sans serif font and then created outline and then used the white mouse to drag and exaggerate the corners of the NZ. For the top one i made a black box and then put my initials on the box and fashion on the bottom. For the second one i made the lipstick by tracing a picture of a lipstick. I then changed the transparency to 60%. Finally the last design made a shadow of the Z by duplicating the Z and then making it transparent to 40% and arranged in the back of the N.

Programs Objective

Adobe Photoshop

You need to demonstrate good photography and image editing skills (both equally important) in this project requested by your potential employer. You can create any full-bleed photodesign project (8.511) that includes your own, new quality image, consistent color scheme.

Process

The first thing I did was choose a color scheme, which was split complementary, orange, red and teal. I took the image of Canon camera. Then I brought the photo to Photoshop and i edited the picture by using levels, vibration, color balance and sharpness. After that I used my quick selection tool i removed the background of the camera. I also used the pen tool to make the edges of the camera clear and sharp. I made the background the lightest shade of orange. I added some lines using the text box and then warping it to make the size and different shape I wanted. I made those lines and the title align to the camera that is a diagonal line. Finally on the bottom of the page i made flash shapes by using custom shape tool to show the colors for my color scheme.

Adobe InDesign

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography. Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.

Process

I started off by making sketches, then i proceeded to make adjustments on Indesign. I used two black boxes to give some contrast and more attention to the flier. I also made the word leadership bigger to emphasize the importance of the conference. I made the picture in the background light by making the watermark 12%. I had the important message such as the location and date bigger font. I had enough white space to keep it looking neat and simple.

Programs Objective

Microsoft Word

You will use your scanned image (s) and an appropriate color scheme to create an event ad to promote a fundraiser that targets a specific audience.

Process

I started off by scanning my image from a magazine, then I cropped it, so that it wont show the words on the picture. After I got my picture I made a sketch of what I wanted on the flier. I used Microsoft word. I put some rectangle shapes and placed the picture around the middle. I aligned all my words in one line on the leftside.

I placed the background picture in the 8.5x11 paper and i placed the dancer and added a mask. First i used black brush 100% opacity to completely take out the background of the dancer. Then i used around 5-50% opacity to blend the girl into the background. I added the quote and used inner shadow, inner glow and drop shadow to the text.
