If you seek something less crowded and more tranquil, head to Melur Seaside on Galang Island; or Sembulang Beach on Rempang Island. RESTAURANT
Golden Prawn 555: Don't miss the Fresh Seafood The place is about 20-30mins away from Batam Centre by taxi. It is very famous, there are two stores near each other, Golden Prawn 555 and Golden Prawn 933, and both are very famous for their seafood. We chose 555 because of the recommendation by the blogs of a Taiwanese couple. You could see many locals there. Just ask the staff member to catch the live prawn, fish, lobster, crab or shell for you. The price is based on per 100gram. They have weight balance near the fish tank; make sure you don't over order. The staff member will check with you on the cooking methods afterwards. We tried steam fish, butter garlic prawn, salted egg crab, black pepper crab and BBQ shell. They serve the dishes very fast, only took 10-15mins to get us most of the dishes. The best is the butter garlic prawn, best prawn dish I ever tasted. it is very crispy and the meat is very juicy and fresh. We ordered second round for that. The BBQ shell is also quite good, the shell meat is very fresh, just nice with the BBQ sauce. You cannot miss the crabs, the shell is not

thick at all, and you could chew those as well, different from most of the sea crabs. The fish is over-cooked and it took quite long to come, after we finish all the rest of the dishes. We also ordered beer and vegetables, there is singing performance, and however, I am not certain if this is because of the Chinese New year celebration. The restaurants are beside a lake, lighting is not very good if you stay outdoors. The dish they serve me at first is not clean, take care of that.

Golden Prawn Seafood Restaurant: Kampong-Styled Seafood Restaurant

This restaurant is a mainstay for tourist groups. Once they arrive at the restaurant, they will be funneled into a souvenir and dried food shop. Though prices here are relatively higher than those around Batam, it is still a worthwhile stop to stock up, especially for those who are in Batam for only one day and may not have the chance to visit anywhere else in their itinerary. The restaurant was relatively large in terms of floor area with many plastic chairs and tables. The ambience was rather "kampong" style with Teresa Teng's music blaring off the speakers. I believe they offer a chance for tourists who want to try out their hands in fishing too.

Arirang Restaurant: Annyeong - Final Meal

Where can you find a mixture of Korean and Japanese? Well, at this restaurant you can have a blend of kimchi and sushi. We were too lazy to walk out of the resort and thus, chose something on offer within the confines of the resort. When we walked into the restaurant, I thought I'd just stepped into North Korea. I've seen pictures of their restaurant - people-less! That was the scene at that time.

The waitresses were just milling around, waiting for us to order our food. The quality of it is not that bad but seemningly, any meals that we have in the resort, we will need to be ready to pay a bomb.

Monkey Beach Hut: One Of The Better Meals

My father is an extremely sociable man. He was out and about one morning and from that early morning walk, he managed to meet the owners of Monkey Beach Hut. The pub was located just a stone throw away from Harris Resort. The male owner is a Singaporean who has stayed in Batam for more than 15 years while his wife is Japanese. The Singaporean also does ship repair and thus his pub is just next to the jetty. At the pub, has a pool table that he allowed us to play for free! Actually, we did not ask if we need to pay in the first place. Oops! After a round of pool, we sat down for dinner.
