You are on page 1of 27

This shows that I am starting my double page spread.

The first thing I did was I had to set the paper to international paper which is what I have done.

This shows that I have changed the width and height of the paper setting. The height was 420mm but now it is 297mm. The width was 297mm and now it is 420mm. This allows the page to be landscape as a double page spread needs to be.

This shows that my page settings are right. To make it easier for myself I have added a guideline onto my page which enables me too see where the page splits into two A4 pages.

This shows that I have duplicated my layer. This enables me to edit my document.

This shows that I have added a title/heading for the article. This is just my first attempt at what I will write- I will probably change this. The font I have used for this is Engravers MT.

Font- Elephant.

This shows that I have added my text onto my article. I have used the verdana style font in a size 12 text.

I have now added at the bottom of my article, the author of the article and who took the photo. I have written the article as I have written, however I also took the photographs but I didnt want to write the same name twice so I made up a random name and said that they have taken it. I did this because in real music magazines you dont see the same persons name twice, once for the author and once for the photographer.

This shows that I have added my magazines website address onto the black banner at the bottom of my page.

This shows that I am going to use the gradient tool to add a background to the double page spread. I think that having a gradient background will make my two pages link together so it shows that they are both on the same thing.

This shows that I have added my gradient background. I think this links the pages well. I have chosen this colour for the background because I dont want to use a bright colour because it may look like my magazine is in a pop magazine and that isnt what I am trying to achieve.

This shows that I have added my photo to my double page spread. I have tried to make my image go over the two pages like conventional magazines do, however Im unsure on the photo I have used but I think that it links in with the article that I have written as it says about her doing the busking in the underground and this is what the photo shows. Im not too sure whether I like how my double page spread looks at the moment. I am going to try and tie them more together maybe by introducing some colour into it and by bringing the title over two pages.

This shows that I have added some anchorage text to my photo. I have tried it in white with the font set as Georgia and a size 12 font.

I have kept the font the same as the screen shot before (Georgia- size 12) however I have changed the colour to the same red that I have used on my front cover and my contents page.

This shows that have selected my model. I have clicked the select inverse box to enable me to hopefully keep my model in full colour.

This shows that I am selecting my adjustments for my the background to change.

This shows that my background has changed whilst leaving my model in colour.

This shows that I have moved my website address to the corner instead of the middle.

This shows that I have screen grabbed my double page spread up to now. I set my article out on Microsoft publisher. This is shown in the screen grab below. I saved the writing in publisher as an image file and then I imported my photo into Photoshop.

From here I just copied the text as a picture to Photoshop. As you can see I have added a pull quote into the middle of my text. This is a key convention.

This shows that I have added the banner that I used on my front cover to my double page spread as this is linking all the pages together.

This shows that I have added my text onto my banner. I have copied the identical layer style from my front cover on to my banner again so it links.

This shows that I have included a stand first, which introduces the artist. This is a key convention.

This shows that I started the paragraph with a drop cap, as that is also conventional. I have also made the article text 'wrap' around the pull quote and drop caps.

This shows that I have added another photo of my model at the bottom of my double page spread to allow the white space to be used.

This shows that I have used the rubber tool to fade my picture page into the article page.

This is the tool that I used.

This is the setting I had my tool on.

This shows that I have added my byline onto my photo to say who took it. I took this photograph however I have said it was Amy Ballor. This person does not exist I have just made her up because I didnt want to write my name for the photography as well as the article.

This is my final double page spread. (I have noticed a spelling mistake on my stand first so I will change this.)
