Mr. Kadappa K. Mysore: Chairman is the founder of Shanthala. He is young, energetic, dynamic and upcoming entrepreneur. Born on 1st June 1971 in the village Belligatti, Kundagol Taluk, Karnataka, completed his B.E. in 1995. Soon after his graduation, he worked in ELTEL Company, Bangalore. considering the experience gained during his career as basic foundation in February 1999, Shanthala Engineering came into picture as labella. As a result of his continuous efforts, now Shanthala Power Limited is a leading Laboratory in private sector in the country. He is a winner of National Entrepreneur Award. Born in a big family with 14 siblings and having lost his parents early, Kadappa Mysore could scarcely have dreamt that he would one day be embarking on a Rs. 100-crore project in his village. Mr. Mysore lost his father when he was in class VI and mother when he was in class X. His brothers did try to support him, but it was hard going for the agricultural family. After emerging a topper at the National High School, Hubli, in SSLC, he mobilised funds for studies by working as a watchman and a daily wager at a cotton mill at night. He went to P.C. Jabin Science College during the day. He self-funded his engineering degree which he completed at Siddharth Institute of Technology, Tumkur, in the stream of Instrumentation Technology. To meet the expenses, he worked as a part-time teacher in a high school. After his studies, he worked in a firm briefly in Bangalore, and later established Shanthala Engineering in 1999 with an investment of Rs. 35,000 from his provident fund out of a singleroom home where he lived with his wife. In the last 14 years, Shanthala Engineering, having its base in Hubli, has become Shanthala Power Research Corporation and now Mr. Mysore is the chairman of Shanthala Group of Companies, which has testing units spread across the country and has added international clients in the recent years.

Beginning with the national-level Special Award for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes entrepreneur, Mr. Mysore has bagged four national-level awards, including the Rajiv Gandhi National Quality Award instituted by the Bureau of Indian Standards. Dream project Now, with a Rs. 15-crore turnover company, Mr. Mysore is dreaming big. He has embarked on a Rs. 100-crore project at his native village, located off the Pune-Bangalore national highway. His company has now purchased a 40-acre land in his village for his project. His project comprises setting up over 10 laboratories that would function under the name Belligatti Advanced Research Centre and also a training institute that would provide short-term education on testing and third party inspection. It is expected to provide employment to 2,000 people when fully functional.

MOTIVATIONAL FACTOR

he indigenously did a device Tan delta and Capacitance Test kit, through which he tested many of the Power Equipments in Karnataka Electricity Board (KEB)-Bangalore, Tumkur, Hubli. This was the motivating factor to set up his individual unit. Further he strengthened his skills by conducting tests in different states.
