GUIDELINES FOR THE 2013-2014 MATHEMATICAL CHALLENGE FOR FILIPINO KIDS TRAINING PROGRAM (MCFKTP)

Heres good news! You have successfully passed the Elimination Stage of the Mathematical Challenge for Filipino Kids Training Program (MCFTKTP). MTG invites you now to join its MCFTKTP. Below are the guidelines to be observed. 1. Participants must NOT expect for easy topics to be taken up in the training. The topics for the trainees are divided into levels and are the subject matters which the participants can choose from to attend: Youngster Group: for grade 1 and 2 pupils only. (No qualifying exam is needed) Level 1: Foundation Course in Problem Solving - for grade school pupils who are first timer in MTG Training. Level 2: Techniques in Solving Challenging Problems - for grade school pupils with some background in Problem Solving. Level 3: Problem Solving Through Algebra for grade school pupils who are fast learners. Level 4: Methods of Problem Solving Proof by Contradiction, Induction, Divisibility and Congruence, Introduction to Geometry (Triangles and Polygons) Level 5: Methods of Problem Solving Combinatorics, Pigeon Hole (Dirichlet) Principle, Geometry (Similar Triangles and Circles), AMGM Inequality, External Element Principle Level 6: Special Topics as Algebra Identities, Gauss Function and Combinatorics Special Group: Advanced Topics on Math Olympiad such as Inequalities, Summation Series and Polynomials 2. The tentative schedules for the training sessions: Aug. 31; Sept. 14, & 28; Oct. 05 & 19; Nov. 09 & 23; Dec. 07; Jan. 11 & 25; Feb. 08 & 15. Attendance will be strictly observed. 3. Starting from the third meeting, test will be given for the first thirty minutes of every session. 4. Trainees are expected to submit all assignments with complete solutions. 5. On the last Saturday of the training, a comprehensive examination will be given to all the trainees to determine who will qualify for the Young Mathematicians In-House Intensive Training Program. 6. Those who will attend the In-House Intensive Training Program will be given a series of examinations including the final test to determine the number of pupils/students who will represent the Philippines in various international mathematics competitions. 7. Those who will be selected to compete in the international mathematics competitions are required to attend the Math Olympiad Summer Training Program in April and May. This series of trainings are conducted to prepare our delegates in the international mathematics competitions, tentatively scheduled on July and August. 8. You are not prohibited from joining local math competitions. In fact, you are strongly encouraged to join them. 9. The decision of the technical committee for the selection of delegates for various international competitions is always based on the exemplary performance trainees manifest during the training. 10. Perfect attendance has an advantage in case of a tie for choosing finalist in the national training program. Date: _______________

Registration starts on August 9, 2013 and ends on August 24, 2013. To register, deposit the registration fee of 4,500 to Banco de Oro (BDO) under the account name MTG, Philippines with account #2820-003-733. Please indicate the name of the trainee in the deposit slip. Then, please email the scanned copy of the deposit slip and the Reply Slip to mtgncr@yahoo.com. You will receive an email confirming your registration. On the first day of training, please bring the original deposit and reply slips and submit to your trainer so that the official receipt will be issued to you. Please be reminded that we will not entertain any participant who enrolls or register after the specified schedule. This is because there are limited slots in this center. Maximum number of trainees per class is 25 and there is only one class per level.
