Waters

Cartius River:
This is an important subequatorial waterway. It flows west by northwest, entering the tropical rainforests, and empties into La e !shindi. The Thassa Cartius and the subequatorial Cartius are not the same river. It is a broad and swift flowing tributary of the "os .

Issus River:
This is a northwestward flowing river, a tributary to the "os . It is more than one hundred pasangs from Torcodino which uses aqueducts to bring water from this river.

#amba River:
#amba is an inland word, not $orean, and means %rope.% It flows directly into Thassa. It is a wide leisurely river located in the &ungles near 'chendi.

La e Ias:
This is located near Corycus.

La e (gao:

(gao is an inland word, not $orean, and means %shield.% It is larger than La e !shindi. It is a vast, deep, long, oval la e. It is fed by a ma&or river called the !a River. It is located in the &ungles near 'chendi.

La e 'haba:
This la e was un nown until discovered in Explorers of Gor. It is a large la e and the source of the !a. It is named after the geographer who discovered it. There are the ruins of an ancient civili)ation on its shore.

La e !shindi:

!shindi is an inland word, not $orean, and means %victory.% This la e is drained by the #amba and (yo a rivers. To the west of La e !shindi are floodlands, marshes and bogs. It is located in the &ungles near 'chendi.

Laurius River:
This is a winding, long, gentle, slow river. It flows in a generally westernly direction though it inclines some to the southwest emptying into Thassa at the free port of Lydius. *nly common ships seen here are light galleys and barges. +bove Laura, the river is less navigable, especially in the late summer.

Lower ,ayeen River:


This is a tributary of the Cartius, located west of Tor.

(yo a River:

(yo a is an inland word, not $orean, and means %serpent.% (yo a flows into 'chendi harbor and thence to Thassa. It is a wide leisurely river.

*lni River:

This is a tributary of the "os , located north of Tharna. The cities of the 'alerian Confederation are located on this river.

Tamber $ulf:

the "os River empties here into Thassa. -ort #ar is located in this gulf. Thassa Cartius River: This river is a tributary of the "os . It drains the "en highlands and has its own tributaries.

!a River:

!a is an inland word, not $orean, and means %flower.% It is a ma&or river, at least as big as the "os . There are many cataracts on the !a which ma e it very difficult to cross. Its source is La e 'haba.

This is a tributary of the Cartius.

"erl River:

This is a tributary of the "os that flows northwestward into the "os .

"os .elta:
The delta is a treacherous are and difficult to navigate. Its channels change almost overnight and is often little more than a trac less marsh. There is little visibility due to the rence plants. Its sluggish, muddy waters vary from a few inches deep to deep enough for a ship. The average depth, after the spring thaws upriver, is three to five feet. It is teeming with wildlife. The eastern portion has fresh water. The delta is claimed by -ort #ar which lies some hundred pasangs from its northwest edge, bordering on the shallow Tamber $ulf. The delta is at least over four to five hundred pasangs long. 'hips from Thassa cannot pass through the delta to the "os River due to the delta/s almost impassability.

"os River:
This is a mighty river, some forty pasangs in width, that passes by +r and pours into the Tamber $ulf. The "os is below #o0ro0ba and north of +r. 1ost towns on the river are free states and belong to the "os League. River ships of +r and Cos battle here for influence over the river and its towns. The southern ban is much less populous than the northern ban .
