Welding Engineer

Job description
Department: Machines Business Unit. Reporting to: Machines Business Unit Manager. Job Band: Competitive salary + benefits. Job summary There is a vacancy at the Machines Business Unit in order to strengthen the skills base. Applicants need to enjoy taking an active part in a busy team, willing to support fellow team members and share ideas with enthusiasm. The ability to communicate with the customer and understand their perception of the final design is a key. You will be responsible for taking active part in the design and development of existing and new welding machines according to customers needs, meeting deadlines and budgets . You will also be responsible for giving technical support to our subsidiaries and customers around the world. Areas of responsibility To be actively involved in the development of existing and new welding machines. To be able to provide operator training in the U.K. and at customer sites worldwide. Provide technical welding documents for individual customer needs. To facilitate new and existing customer demonstrations to promote the range of machinery. The knowledge to successfully commission machines after installation. Decision making authority N/A reports to the Business Unit Manager. Key metrics Machines BU aims and objectives are met. Agreed development of the role. Internal and external customer satisfaction. Control of Quality assurance (H&S). Contribution to the multi-disciplined team. Key competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities/ Attitude, Job-related Behaviour) Technical qualification in welding or mechanical engineering. Previous proven successful experience with automatic equipment. Previous experience with consumables for fabrication, hardfacing and cladding Practical hands-on experience of system control of heavy duty equipment. Confidence to challenge the organisation and current practices High organisational and problem solving skills. In the habit of working in a busy and complex environment, staying calm under pressure. Outgoing personality, in order to interact with internal and external customers at all levels. Self-motivation and a high degree of commitment to the companys objectives and targets. Good communication skills. Advanced level of English is a must. Desired competencies The experience to write Welding Procedure Standards (W.P.S.) Previous welding qualifications. Main job / role (Customer, People, Finance, Process) To establish and maintain protocols and procedures for the weld testing of the companys equipment prior to dispatch. To actively contribute to the machine design from the welding engineers perspective and liaise with other engineers in the team during the design and manufacturing process to ensure that the welding process requirements are adhered to. Location: Fowlmere (UK).

To demonstrate the equipment to customers during pre-delivery inspections according to recommended procedures. To train machine operators in the use of equipment. To recommend welding sequences for specific components. To help continuously develop, improve and test the functionality of new equipment and processes. Daily solving technical issues Holding meetings regularly to update your team members on current work progress and potential problems. Miscellaneous Willing and able to travel across UK and overseas at short notice. Holds a full clean driving license.
