Ans: Michel has a specific career goal and to achieve that she has implemented some specific strategies which are: She attained several training programs and seminars on community investment ; Convinced her boss that she should lead a task force on new market development; Develop relationship with her superior and subordinate;

These strategies were very effective for Michele because this is how she - got success in her working place was able to establish herself as an important contributor to the Federal Bank influenced the banks social investment policy that is her career goal derived a great pleasure from the relationship with peers attainment of all the above achievement gave a her a relax mood that enables her to lead a enjoyable family life and opportunity to think about her future.

b. What specific career strategies Joe has implemented? Were the effective? Why or why not?

Ans: Joe had no specific career goal and thereby he did not need to set any strategy.

4. Career Appraisal a. To what extent Michele has received useful feedback regarding her career? Why? What has done or not done to receive feedback?

Ans: Michel has gathered a quite good amount of feedback. She has consulted with her husband and her organization, she has also obtained from some others financial organization. She gather such feedback to evaluate herself - her qualities, competencies, lacking and opportunities left to her- and take necessary corrective actions based on those feedback.

b. To what extent Joe has received useful feedback regarding her career? Why? What has done or not done to receive feedback? Ans: Though Joe did not want to acquire any feedback regarding his performance, his sales team reported to senior vice president for his degraded performance. His seniors were also dissatisfied regarding his inattention. In consequence, he was fired.

5. Overall Effectiveness of Career Management: a. Who is more effective in career management, Michel or Joe? Why do you believe that? Ans: Michele is more effective in career management because she always had a plan and went on - she fixed a career goal in her early career and tried to achieve that and when she failed to achieve that position she reexamined her career goal, explore what abilities and opportunities still she has and then she set a career goal suited to her mid career that is quite different from her early career, she develop some effective strategies to achieve goal, obtain necessary appraisal and feedback and give importance to those to improve and make her road to success smooth. She focused on her future life also. On the other hand, Joe did not have any career goal to achieve and never thought about to progress in his career.

b. What personality characteristics enable individuals to manage their careers effectively, and what characteristics prevent individuals from managing their careers effectively? What personality characteristics did you observe for Michel and Joe, and how have they helped or hampered them in managing their career?

Ans: (i) The personality characteristics enable individuals managing their career Are: Awareness about self and environment Competence in current job Extended work involvement Skill development Development of mentor and other supportive alliances Image building

Organizational politics Set realistic career goal and strategies to achieve the goal Willingness to get feedback

(ii) personality characteristics that prevent individual to manage their career effectively are: Lack of self information Lack of internal work information Lack of external work information Lack of self confidence Decision- making fear and anxiety Nonwork demands Situational constrains

(iii) Characteristics possess by Michel and Joe and how they have affected them: Michel: Michel was cautious, ambitious, realistic, social, analytical, helpful, understanding, and self- confident. All these characteristics help her to be a good performer in her current job and think about future.

Joe: He was emotional that he did not think about own-self and only consider about his family that binds him in a job which he never wanted to do which caused frustration and grew lack of enthusiasm in him. He has a lacking in forecasting power that he could not see what danger in coming up to him. Besides that he has lacking in ambition as well and all these hampered to manage his career effectively.

6. What is Next? a. What should Michel be doing now to manage her career effectively? Why?

Ans: She should focus on her current goal and develop herself in her current position. She should dedicate herself more for betterment of her organization.

b. What should Joe be doing now to manage her career effectively? Why? Ans: Although in mid career starting from beginning is quite difficult but yet he should do a thorough self exploration about his abilities and opportunities left to him and then set a realistic career goal for him and also develop a set of realistic strategies to achieve that goal.
