VACANCIES AT AIA

Adventis Inhouse Africa (AIA) are Consulting Architects & Interior Designers with offices in Nairobi (Kenya). The firm has seven Directors, all of whom are qualified Architects and members of the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK) and registered with the Board of Registration for Architects & Quality Surveyors (BORAQS). AIA is looking for creative, energetic, proactive and reliable individuals to fill the following positions:

Architect (2 positions)
Reporting to the respective Director / Associate/project architect, main responsibilities will be to inspire design concepts, detailed designs,site coordination and successfully delivering innovative designs. The role holder should demonstrate strong communication and presentation skills, Manage and maintain existing client relationships while bringing in new business. Responsibilities and Objectives Discuss the objectives, requirements and budget of a project; Consult with Director / Associate/project architect about the design environment; Prepare and present feasibility reports and design proposals to the client; Advise the client /Director / Associate/project architect on the practicality of project; Use IT in design and project management, specifically computer-aided design software; Keep within financial budgets and deadlines; Produce detailed workings, drawings and specifications; Specify the nature and quality of materials required; Prepare tender applications and presentations; Negotiate with contractors and other professionals; Prepare tender documents for contracts; Supervise and coordinate the work of contractors; Manage and control projects from start to finish; Regular site visits to check on progress, ensuring that the project is running on time and to budget; Resolve problems and issues that arise during construction; Ensure that the environmental impact of the project is managed. Requirements (Qualifications, Experience, knowledge and skills) Degree in Architecture with 1-3 years experience within same industry. Should be planning to be registered within two years Should be a highly Creative/innovative Individual Project management and Presentation skills are a plus knowledge in construction and field work Knowledge of Archicad and related software with reference to design and presentation Relationship and Stakeholder Management Business development, Quality and time management skills Ability to manage a team in design and delivery

Technician (2 positions)
Role purpose: Assist in preparing concept drawings and outline proposals, production drawings and attend periodic site meetings and inspections. Main Responsibilities: Support the Architects Design drawings for constructions purposes Do proposals according contractors format Site visits/inspection Briefs from client Draw and Come up with costs for the client Presentation of drawings for clients and those used by contractors on site Instructing contractors on whats to be done. Project Management

Knowledge, skills and attributes: Dip. In Architecture , Building and Construction 2years in a busy architectural firm (commercial, residential, social and industrial projects Knowledge in Graphics design, Structural Engineering, Bill of quantities Exposure on projects (end to end) Ability to handle clients independently Ability to take briefs and report to directors Good communication skills ( both verbal and written ) Presentation skills Creative and innovative Ability to use Archicad, Atlantis and other rendering platforms Ability to work with minimal supervision and meet deadlines Team player If you meet the above requirements, send your application and detailed CV including current contacts of nd three referees to recruitment@adventis-africa.com by Friday 2 May 2014.
