I. LATERAL LOAD TEST

General

The Lateral Load Test will be conducted on 600mm diameter PHC pile for power
block and coal dome area.

This lateral test load requires suitable material with sufficient weights to provide
necessary resistance to the maximum anticipated lateral test load to be applied.
The design lateral service load capacity prescribed by Client is 2.5 Tons @
12mm, with a maximum test load of three times the service load (7.5 Tons).

The solid test plate, at least 50mm thick, larger than the diameter of the test pile
will be place vertically against the side of the pile on which the hydraulic cylinder
and load cell are aligned and centered. The Hydraulic jack cylinder will be set
against the test plate at the point of load application in the horizontal position and
on the line of load application. The load cell will be then placed between the
hydraulic cylinder and the steel strut to have adequate size and strength to
transmit the test load without bending and buckling and to further prevent the
crushing or distortion during the applied loads.

The lateral deflection along the line of the load application is measured using two
dial gauges with a maximum run of 50 mm. These gauges are mounted on the
reference beam using the magnetic clamp.

A. Measuring Movement of Pile

In preparation of possible and relatively large lateral movement, pile movement
shall be measured laterally using the two (2) reference rulers placed at each side
of the pile parallel to the loading direction. Another set of two 50-mm dial gauges
shall be placed at the rear side of the pile for a more precise measurement. The
stems of the gages will be made to bear on glass surfaces. Magnetic clamps
shall be used to anchor the gages to the reference beams, which are made
adequately stiff with cross-connections to support the test instrumentation and
minimize vibrations.

B. Testing Equipment

withstanding the testing pressure.

Note:
The criteria in terminating the test are as follows:
a) When the maximum load of 7.5 tons has already been applied, or
b) When the pile has an excessive movement without adding load, or
when the maximum deflection of 12mm has been recorded.

II. DOCUMENTATION

All necessary records and information gathered during the course of testing for
static axial compressive load test and lateral load test will be recorded, and test
result using the attached form will submitted to the engineer for review and
approval.

III. SAFETY CONTROL

1. Tool box meeting will be conducted to all personnel and worker to
enhance their respective function in the execution of testing operation
prior to start of work activity.
2. During the execution of the testing only authorized person/technician
are required to be within the testing work area.
3. All equipment operators will be provided with trained equipment spotter
during the load application.
4. All personnel will be provided with proper and appropriate PPE that will
be donned at all time during the course of testing operation.
5. Appropriate safety signage will be provided within the required working
radius to prevent any workers in coming-in not involve on the testing
operation.
6. All lifting cable and other lifting equipment accessories will be check
adequately to ensure that they are safe prior to any usage in lifting of
load.
7. All testing equipment, tools that are involved in the testing operation will
be check.
8. Prior to testing, all operation that will cause vibration (i.e., pile driving,
compacting soil, etc.) must be stop.
