98% available , plugged in,not charging
07-11-201204:38 AM
I have a 5 months old hp probook 4530s laptop A6C15PA#UUF with
win 7 ultimate *64-bit
After 100% charged,After 1 days AC Power,Battery Meter shows
"(98% available,plugged in not charging").

if I use the battery for a while less than 94% and if i plugged it in ac
power it is charging and shows 100%, fully charged. After one days
same problem.

Would like to know root cause for this problem. Hardware or win 7
ultimate. If Hardware battery of any other part?

It won't charge when battery is above 90% charged. Try charging
when it is below 90%

Hi,

As Usmanshakoor pointed out, there is no problem. The adapter is
designed to stop charging after it reaches a full charge then resumes
after the battery loses a certain amount of charge.

This is to prevent so-called "overcharging" of the battery.

Hi All,
I hope you guys are able to assist me. I brought a HP Pavillion dm4 laptop last
year September'10. My battery was able to charge for the past 1 year and
suddenly now it shown "99% available (plugged in, not charging)"
With only AC power, I'm able to boot up my laptop. Otherwise, with only battery
I'm unable to set up my laptop.

Could you please help me in this?
Millions thanks!
Regard,
Daphne

Re: Battery Issue (plugged in, not charging)

Hi Daphne,
First of all, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery,
and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.
Now, plug in the AC Adapter without the battery inserted, start the notebook,
open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for
Batteries, right click on and the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery
and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here. When the uninstall is
complete, shut the PC down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and
then see if the notebook will start on just the battery. Windows will automatically
reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes. Shutdown the PC

again. Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the
notebook to see if this has helped the issue at all.

WINDOWS 7 HOW TO FIX LAPTOP BATTERY WONT CHARGE I SSUE
(PLUGGED IN, NOT CHARGING)

We have a new HP laptop at work that is our audio recording and
video production rig. For some reason today, it would only run on AC
and not the battery. The battery indicator in the tray indicated:
Plugged In, Not Charging
Strange for a new laptop to have a bad battery especially when HP
Support Assistant indicated a good battery. After some searching,
here is the fix:
1. Go into Control Panel
2. Go to the System category
3. Select View Advanced System Settings
4. Go to the Hardware tab and click the Device Manage button
5. Under the Batteries section right click on the Microsoft APCI-
Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall
6. Agree to the warning to uninstall
7. Shutdown your computer
8. Remove the battery for 1 minute
9. Reinstall the battery
10. Turn on your computer (with AC since your battery is
probably dead)
11. Windows should automatically recognize the new
hardware and your battery should start charging again.
